Atwood LP Detector " Fault"??????

Hey there, I noticed when my trailer was brand new that thet first time I used the Furnace ( Located right next to LP detector) that I got a Yellow light and an intermittant Beep. I thought this was a "Warning" Red is "Alwarm". It went away and I attributed it to the coatings they use burning off and they are over sensitive.

Few months later ( Now) It is happening again. Sometimes every few days. SOmetimes after several hours of Furnace being on. I have checked for Gas leaks and found Zero... then I actually READ THE FRONT OF THE LP detector and "Yellow" is a FAULT. Not an alarm... WHat would cause a fault?? Does the LP detector need replacing? the trailer is bran dnew but the detector is Feb 2006 Manufacture date so it has sat a while... Thank U

I would get in touch with Atwood, they DO have a website and also a contact e-mail on the site. Your unit should be under warranty, it may need replacing. Having sat a while is not necessarily why something could be wrong, after all they DO sit for extended periods when people put their trailers in storage over non-use periods.

Thanks CD, you read my mind!! I called atwood and they asked me where my LP detector was placed... It is right next to the Furnace. THey said that was not a good choice on the part of the Interior designer!! LOL They said it was getting too "Hot" and I needed to try insulating it the first time or relocate the unit further away... Thanks!

Pull the unit out from the wall and look behind it. You will probably have quite a bit of room there where you could run a shield between it and the furnace. That would be my first step. If not, relocate it and be creative with the big hole. You might find you could move it down that same wall and use the same wiring, etc.

Thaks guys and gals! I went to my hardware store and bought some of that aluminum pipe wrapping insulation. Silver sha shiny on one side and Insulation on the other. I padded it up real good!! First time I turned on the furnace it beeped ONCE and I thought I was in for it.. Reset once and it ran last coupe of nights perfectly. Lets hope it keeps up!
