Change the fuel filter, check all of the exhaust pipe connections, check and tighten all of the turbo pipe connections and clean the air filter. You are not getting enough fuel and air to the engine.
Another thing as far as resetting the throttle position, make sure that when you start the engine DON'T put your foot on the GO pedal, if you do this is when the computer calculates as the GO pedal position and if you have depressed then it assumes it is NOT thus you don't have as much pedal to push when you really need it.

I have pulled my 5VR accross the Great USA without any problems pulling hills at speed, and I don't mean walking speed .
I last came up the Grapevine with a minimum speed of 50mph during the summer with the AC wide open.

Get it looked at and let us know what it was

i have to use second and go much slower than necessary to control my load

a pac brake isn't far in the future

I was towing a 11K trailer up some pretty steep hills in South Dakota back in June. On one very long climbs I had to start from a stop (traffic light at the very bottom of the mountain) the trans temps climbed but I was able to maintain 5o mph. It was tough on the truck but I made it. The boost was up around 23-25 pounds. It sounds like maybe a weak or possibly going (South) lift pump or a faulty T/C.

i would think that you should be making high 20's for boost if you were floored. If im pulling a trailer, no matter what weight, up a hill, at 2400 RPM my boost will be hitting very high numbers

I just recently pulled our 11K travel trailer up the small hill going up towards Mount Eagle TN on I-24 - speed dropped to about 58 when we got close to the top but never lost a beat. We lead the way up - most of the 18 wheelers and other brand trucks pulling any kind of a load were going much slower. You might have something else going on.
