Air Bags

99 24 valve, pull a 25 ft 5th wheel 9,000lbs
I have the opportunity to purchase some air bags.
Do they help with pulling a trailer.. or what is the sole purpose. I understand it would help with stabilizing the back of the truck and you can make it the truck level..
is their any other positives ?

Funker, if you check in the Towing forum on this board there is lots of help about towing improvements. I will tell you though, air bags get really good reviews. They act like an adjustable set of springs. When your truck is not towing you drop the pressure in the bags to a few psi in the bags and it is like stock, when you are going to tow, add air to the bags and you now have extra support so the truck sit level, doesn't roll and has safer suspension.
The folks in the Towing forum can and will give you better information.

Honestly, it makes pulling a trailer a dream. I have a set of Firestones and love them.

Do some reading in the RV or Towing sections, or just do a search on air bags. Tons of info here.

There is another product out there called Timbren. Works like an airbag but never needs any adjustment or messing with after installing them. Cost a lot less than airbags too.

Airbags are a great addition to any vehicle that is used for towing. They will give you the flexibility of adjusting for different loads or adjusting them when not towing.

We sell a product called AirCell which is very similar to the Timbrens. It's great for a vehicle that will always be under a constant load, like a full-time towing truck or construction truck.

Airbags will reduce rear squat, improve poor braking/steering, fix headlight aim, improve ride quality, helps with trailer sway, body roll, and bottoming out.

Let me know if you'd like me to help find a kit for your application.

I've had Firestone Ride-rites on my last two trucks (Airlift makes a comparable product) and will always have airbags for towing. They are a must-have as far as I'm concerned. Easy install too.

Heard that Timbrens go hard in the cold, and no adjustment for different tongue weights.
