? About longest enclosed trailer

What is the longest factory made enclosed trailer to be bought? I am in need of two goosneck or fifth wheel enclosed trailers to move a mission organization around the US for my church and instead of going one tractor trailer route with CDL,commercial permits, etc. I am looking into two non commercial enclosed trailers to see if I can accomodate the needed space and eliminate the Frieghtliner and 53ft trailer that I use now. Thanks Rick

I had a 53 ft enclosed Car Mate trailer...I really liked the cargo area but gettin around town was a bear to drive because of the wide swing it needed...I sold it last year
I also have a 44 ft enclosed that I used on a regular bases....not as much cargo area but much better to get around town with

Forgot to add any time your not moving your personal items its considered commercial and you'll need a CDL and authority when you cross a state line
You can bootleg move but some day the DOT will catch y'all and the fines are heavy....and hope you never have a accident because your insurance will cause trouble too so you should call your insurance agent before you start this venture
I know your tryin to be a nice guy to help your church.....but one accident without proper authority and insurance can wreak your life and cause many problems for your church

Thanks pappyman for the advice, I have been moving this ministry around the US for some time now, I use a commercial tagged tractor trailer unit, we are in the midst of talks with DOT and are trying to find out if the property is signed over to me as personal property would it be legal to go the route of two trailers and two one tons? They are having trouble trying to figure that one out, as we are not for hire, non-profit, and individualy owned. So thanks again, I sure do know about the mistakes and reprecussions. Goodluck,,Rick

Check out internettrailer.com for examples of big enclosed trailers. If you login, they give you base pricing too.

That may very well eliminate the need for authority, but will not have a real bearing on the fact that you have a truck. You still will need plates for the weight, stop at scales, and insurance for the weight. Most states do not differ between comercial tags and private tags. Alabama even stopped that by eliminating the "P" tags for private truck use.

Talking to state level DOT will not cure much, they generally don't know the law anyway. Big difference if you are staying in your state or going over state lines. What you need to remember is that there is no difference between the one ton and a 53 foot trailer and an 18 wheeler except the weight. The laws are the same.
