I have the 3:73's and the NV5600, I've been happy with it, I've never had to floor this truck to keep it moving with or faster than traffic. This truck is my daily driver, if it was strictly a work/tow rig I'd go with the 4:10 just to have that extra grunt. I've never towed with an auto tranny so I can't comment on that.

With 4.10's Im not afraid to tow anything, anywhere, anytime, plus it works the auto a whole lot less. I bought my truck specifically to TOW!!

I wanted a vehicle that would tow almost anything and that is what I do!!

Truth is: Wife wanted the automatic

Trinity, with an auto trans I would not get 3.73s hauling that much. Manual trans it doesn't matter. Auto + 3.73 is a drag with that much weight.

Well I guess your getting a lot of different responses here, normally I would suggest the 3.73, that's what I have and I like it but in your case with that heavy load in all different kinds of traffic I would probly go with the 4.10

Get the 4:10's. It's a diesel (meant to work hard) and at resale time most buyers will prefer the 4:10's. They help the CTD pull.

I had 3:73's in my last truck and like it just fine. Then I got this truck with 4:10's and now I know what I was missing.

Have you considered ordering the turck just the way you want it? I went to edmunds.com and built it to my specs. I gave the the MSRP and dealer invoice price. I went shopping till I found that would order it for me at dealer invoice and I keep the rebates, if any.

I ordered the 4.10 rear end. It is a $50 upgrade. I think with the 4.10 you have to get the anti-spin differential too, but that is only $300 and a good option ot have. Sure beats the price for conversion.

If you decide to order, price in everything you might ever want. Sure is alot cheaper to do it then. edmunds gives you the dealer invoice price for options selected too. If you can wait the 8 weeks for delivery, that is the way to go.

I found a truck with the 4.10s in it they are very very few in the 07 w/5.9 still on dealer lots.
I tow a min. of 12,500 6days a week and after reading and researching I figured I better stick with the 4.10.
Thanks for the help.

From everything I've read, 4.10s are perfect with the auto. I love mine with the 6 spd, even for a daily driver. I wanted the best towing truck possible! I had 3.54 before and the 4.10s tow so much better, it's like night and day! I'll gladly give up a couple mpg to have the ***** of the 4.10s. The rpm isn't going to hurt a thing - it makes the truck work way easier. Craig

my last truck had 3.55 and a 5spd .
I was not afraid to hookup to any thing from 35' campers to 40' flatbed loaded with straw, hay , or any of various tractors.

terris' and my temper were the demise of several clutches however

SCOGGINS did you ever pull those items any distance.Like cross country or through mountains etc. I have.Yes it pulls them but on some inclines at 45 mph.If you loose the speed on fair size inclines due to a vehicle or tractor trailer crossing over in front of you thats it until the next flat or down hill run.I found with those gears and pulling any kind of weight it is like driving a tractor/trailer rig.Fall off the downhills almost way to fast to hit the big inclines and struggle to the next hill.At least with me it wore me out driving like that hour after hour. With the 4.10 gears and the older trucks it made it bearable. With the 4.10 gears and the 3rd generation trucks(bigger H.P.)it makes bearable even more relaxing to travel long distance towing 9k plus. Can maintain 65/68 ph with out having to plan your attact for the next incline or in the far right lane with it stomped to maintain 55 etc.
