10k tandems vs 8k singles

im at the point now where this is what i have to decide on and who im going to buy from no less....singles, only 2 k difference and 4 less tires, less drag when pulling and less weight, compared to the normal dual tandem 10k..

I would do the singles and 2 spares.. That is one advantage to the dualies is you have more air chambers

with a dually if you get flat, you still have one tire left so you can at least limp along. with a single tire if you get a flat you may be stuck where you are.

If your running near max weight your singles will heat up more then duals.. More chance of tire problems.. more drag with duals but less sinkage in soft ground with duals. I have a triaxle single wheel trailer.. I would sell it and buy a dual in a heart beat if i could afford to..

We bought a tandem dual 28ft delta gooseneck last fall. I pulls heavier than the 25ft triaxle we had before but it is a heavier trailer too. You can get 6000lb rated 17.5" tires to to run 2 12,000lb axles with singles if you like as well. Tires inflate to 125psi. The tires are harder to come buy and are more $. But less weight and rolling resistance. A trailer mfg in Fort Benton, MT makes them like this. I believe they are Wilray mfg.
