Trouble getting DTR Pages to load?

Lately, when I get onto DTR..........I have been having trouble getting the pages to load. I open up a page, and it will partially load with the top banner visible.......and then it just stalls and stalls and stalls.

I don't know what is causing this. I thought maybe the site was slowed down due to heavy traffic or something, but I know some other friends on here who are not having a problem with this. On other computers I don't have a problem. Just mine.

If I go to any other website......everything loads almost instantly. I have high speed cable internet.

Could it be a "setting" that I have on that is slowing it down? Eventually the pages will load....but geesh it is a long long time. The only thing I figured out to counter it.......is to open multiple pages (windows) and come back to them after they finished loading.......and read earlier ones opened just to keep them moving. What gives? Thanks!

I have been having a problem with it saying I need Javascript enabled when I know I do. A refresh usually takes care of it.

Have you tried clearing your cookies and temp internet files? Also your prefetch directory..... place to start - although, you would think this would effect other pages as well and not just DTR...

Well I rebooted the computer and reset my modem. It seems to be working great at the moment. Back up to full speed. I just find it puzzling that it will do it on DTR,,,,,,,,,,,,but not other websites.

If anybody knows the cause of this, please chime in and let us know. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. At first I thought it was my connection at home. But as I travel,,I find that it from everywhere. If that place has a particularly slow connection,,,it's so bad, I almost can't use the site.

Mine just did it again. I rebooted my computer and modem....didn't solve it. Then I rebooted a second time...now it works perfect. I still have no clue why it does this......ONLY for DTR. No other website...that I can tell.

Wow!!! I've had/had that issue for MONTHS! Contacted Larry Ellis whom said no other complaints.Same with TDR.Then I noticed it was DTR,TDR,The Diesel Stop and a DREAMHORSE site.I called my Web provider, deleted files, cookies, bought TUNE UP down loads plus one I already had, talked to the sites that were involved.Paid Gateway and Microsoft money to fix/find what ever.Every one pointed a finger eleswhere.I had Norton 360 for over a year whom is spyware, virus protector and computer tune stuff. They ran scans,I ran scans. My provider ran scans. No PROBLEM FOUND.Bad as a car or truck repair. Then I called Circuit City where I bought this computer.Got a FireDog to come to the house.$159.95.Got a 23 year old guy.He said I knew what it was when I got the repair ticket.I said REALLY.Well he knew is stuff.A TROJAN VIRUS/variant the whole time.Told me the Norton 360 stuff was junk.Any how he fixed it,cleaned files, gave us a NEW anitvirus/spyware for free for a year.Found some other minor issues that some of the others had screwed up/with etc.As of now no issues. All the slow sites(not every one)had to do with D! in it. I've been called Hounddog for years cause I stick to a issue like a bad smell.Hope my system is FIXED.As of now its slick as butter.

Hounddog----Guess that is it. Trojan Virus. Guess I will be spending some money to get that straightened out now.... I do have Norton 360 too. Thanks for your help!

That might not be the issue but I think it is.I chased it around for three months and its working slick at this time. The FIREDOG guy said he fixes the same issues for the most part day after day and dumps the Norton 360 at the same rate. That virus has been in my system a long time and the Norton 360 allowed it in and never picked it up on scans which sometimes I did daily trying to figure that pain in the butt issue out.I even killed for moments entire firewalls, turned off anitspan and then would try to open DTR/TDR/DIESEL STOP etc with no differance.Youngman stated that anytime for the most part that system slows down and pages half open its a virus and it will get you in the most used places.

Norton has been the cause of issues on this site before. I should have thought of that. Between their firewall and anti-virus, they seem to cause more problems than they solve.

X2 !

Best IT move I've made yet was to dump Norton/Symantec and install ZoneAlarm...

The FireDog guy said this was the cats meow its Kaspersky.Thats what he downloaded and said he is authorised to use it for hunting virus. He said he's really suppose to uninstall it when finished but if he's getting rid of Norton 360 he usually just gives away the years subscription. He made a exact same comment about Norton that it caused more issues then anything.

Jack,

Do you have a recommendation for a good anti-virus/firewall type software, if the Norton continues to cause me problems? I just rebooted and it is working good again...at the moment.

I know you are pretty computer savvy. XLR8R uses ZoneAlarm. What about that one, from your point of view? Thanks.
