Search wait time

... I'm not sure if this has been covered before because I'm waiting for the search to reload so I can use it again... but in the couple pages I browsed I did not see it brought up.

I understand the need for a time-out before another search can be done, but 60 seconds is a lifetime it seems . I usually end up closing the window and browsing another forum before I'm able to search this forum again. Maybe I just don't have any patience but I think if you limited it do 5-10 seconds the point would still aid in not using up bandwidth, but wouldn't be obstructive to people who are genuinely trying to find something.

Just a suggestion, if it has already been beat into the ground my apologies ...

The biggest reason it's a pain is when something comes back with no results, you have to sit around for a minute and *hope* that the next one you try ends up getting at least a few hits...

There isn't a mod for the forums that would allow the time limit to be shortened if the search comes back empty? At least when it comes up with something you can kill that minute seeing if what it came up with will actually help :P...

The main reason that we have the 60 second time limit is so we can ease the strain on the server. Also, it protects the server if someone was trying to be malicous and mess up the DTR by repeated hits on the search function.

I visit another site that is either pay OR free. If you pay you can search every 15-30 seconds (IIRC) but if you do not pay like me, you need to wait 300 seconds (5 min) between searches!! I will gladly wait 60 seconds for the incredible good info you can get here. And it is all free to everybody.
