You might want to post that question in this forum to get better responses...

My question is: Which is a better truck to purchase for general use; a 1994-1998 12 valve, a 1999 to 2002 24 valve, or the 2003-2005 dodge diesel?

Like madhat said, I would try posting that question in the "Other" section so that it would get more views.

But, to answer your question I would choose a 2002 model Non 53 block. Make sure the VP is in good shape and get a good aftermarket lift pump to keep fuel to it and it would be fine. That is just my preference.

I personally want a 2006-07 5.9 3500 for towing/work/DD, just cause I can get some more creature comforts out of it. Again, just my opinion.

I would say a 3rd gen with 2um filtration, but I am biased.

I would never touch a VP truck. Early third gen will net you the best towing MPG with the newest truck, but the 12 v with the VE is a very efficient vehicle.

Now Mark, a VP that is in good shape and has a solid supply of fuel at a good pressure is plenty reliable.

Yeah... but how many people do you know that know how to monitor their fuel pressure correctly?

Looky here, I need to close this thread because we're (myself included) are going the wrong direction here...

Please take the discussions to the appropriate forums.
