This should not be that hard to understand when the term "you will not post any material" in the first sentence of the Forum Rules refers to written words, pictures and links.

I assume that this last sentence in your post was supposed to read,
to which I have this reply. I think if you are offended by our RULES, then you should stay off our website, period. Let me ask you this. Have you ever typed something totaly innocent into a search engine and clicked on a link only to have it bring you to a porn site? I'd be willing to bet you have, I know it's happened to me a couple times and many other people, did I get angry and sue someone? Not hardly. It's a fact of life when on the internet that you WILL run into offensive material. I just think a reasonable way to handle this problem is a properly posted WARNING telling other DTR users what to expect that way they can decide for THEMSELVES whether or not to view such material. Like I said before if you are offended by WORDS the internet doesnt sound like a good place for you, because no matter what you will run into offensive material, most of the time without warning, period. Just my $0.02 |
I have experience on Jack's board long enough that I can comment. I have been in trouble a couple of times on the board and have always found Jack and Top as well as every administrator they choose, to treat you as a friend that they desire to just keep in line.
We at times all have differences of opinion and they keep it from deteriorating to an ugly situation. As far as the morals on the board, I agree, but that said, this is not a democracy, it is their board and will be run the way they want. A member or guest never has to fear, he can show any post to his wife or children with no chance of the child or wife seeing something questionable. Watching this board grow from its start has been amazing. They must be doing it right for it to grow as it has. Thanks guys, its a great site for information and friendly banter, doing a great job, don't change a thing. |
over 1.4 million hits a day now. Amazing, to me ..... very impressive growth! Lets stick to the facts..... Here is a good discription for the DTR members to understand the difference between web site hits and web site views: # Hit - A request for a file from the web server. Available only in log analysis. The number of hits received by a website is frequently cited to assert its popularity, but this number is extremely misleading and dramatically over-estimates popularity. A single web-page typically consists of multiple (often dozens) of discrete files, each of which is counted as a hit as the page is downloaded, so the number of hits is really an arbitrary number more reflective of the complexity of individual pages on the website than the website's actual popularity. The total number of visitors or page views provides a more realistic and accurate assessment of popularity. # Page View - A request for a file whose type is defined as a page in log analysis. An occurrence of the script being run in page tagging. In log analysis, a single page view may generate multiple hits as all the resources required to view the page (images, .js and .css files) are also requested from the web server. I have ZERO issues with the rules. And I rarely speak out on this forum. But I have to ask...... Why is DTR a Limited Liability Corporation? This site may be privately owned. But it is commercially funded.... |
Ever pay for a server to host a site like this and pay for the bandwidth it uses? It's not cheap, and donations won't cover it fully.

It's not hard to understand the RULE, I just dont understand WHY. I agreed to and have abided by the rules here on DTR, just like many of the other members here but Im still entitled to my opinion and to question why something is a certain way.

That's just my $0.02. |

Have you got a problem? You actualy own one and I dont so you can laugh at me for it? I happen to love the B series cummins and I love dodge trucks, Im currently a taking diesel technology classes, and in the future I would love to own a 12 valve. I think he might be enjoying your own sentiment there! I have felt great pride seeing signatures like yours, as I am priveleged enough to have my truck, and feel satisfaction that others out there want them, too. I waited for mine, wanting one since I saw the first reviews of the 1st gens, but didn't dream I would own one. At least I HOPE that is what he is laughing about -- I would be upset too, if it was meant as an attack. I for one am happy you agreed to the terms and are here, as all opinions are welcome, as long as they are maturely expressed!! Post on, good friend!! Oh...and I hope you get your Dodge CTD soon!! Good luck with your studies. We need good technicians out there!!! |

What I would really like to do with my studies is work in the high performance area of diesel trucks, I think it would be a great experiance to build and test different ways of makin power.
