DTR "HELP" section getting out of hand?

Does it seem to anybody else that the HELP section has slowly been getting out of hand? To me it seems like there are more and more posts about things that really don't constitute an emergency and still allow the vehicle to operate safely. I get the feeling some people are putting threads in the HELP section just to try and get attention to get questions answered more quickly. In my opinion, threads should only be started in the HELP section if the vehicle is not operable, unsafe, or for stranded people. I think this would really help folks out that are in serious need of help, and don't just want a template for their cab lights. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

I agree with you. In the past, we've tried to move a lot of those threads out so the forum would just show true emergencies. I think we need to get back to that more often. I find that I neglect that forum sometimes.

That's my fault as the HELP section is one of the ones I'm suppose to be moderating. I slacked up a bit and had not noticed the amount of NON-Emergency threads.

I'll tighten up a little and start reading that forum more often. Thanks for the heads up.

Thats just the kind of thing I look for when deciding on your Christmas Bonus

I agree, I have a tendency to overlook it as well but will try to pay more attention to it as well.

Well, this wasn't a poke at the moderators, you guys have enough on your plate I'm sure. I don't know if it would make sense to put a little tag at the top of the forum that says "only post in this section if you have a constituted emergency" or something like that. It is more that the users and posters should take it upon themselves to decide whether they really have an emergency or not...

Keep up the good work mods!

Oh SURE Matt,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ya trying to get me fired or something?? Don't worry,,,,, the last time they tried to fire me,,,,,,, I pitched a tent out in Jack's front yard and stood at the curb with a "Will moderate for food" sign.
The time before that,,,,,, I sent Mrs.Top pictures of my 12 children ,,, (well not really my children,,,, just pics of the neighborhood kids,,) and she made him sleep in the garage till he let me back on.
And the time before that,,,,,,,,, well..... you get the idea,,,,

I did change the words EMERGENCY and IMMEDIATE to bold print and I'll start paying a little closer attention. There are some cases when one person may look at his situation as an emergency and I don't,,, that's when I used to leave it for a day or two and then move it with a redirect. However, I got a little slack and neglected it and I agree, it had started to fill with non-emergency posts that may have got better answers had they been in the proper forum.

We do need to keep this forum as intended because it does HELP out someone when they need it now. But if it gets jumbled up with all sorts of stuff,,, the folks who need the immediate help may not get it.

As the other Admins have stated, Thanks for the feedback, We always like to improve on things around here.

Boy am I glad to hear that! I was afraid you were going to continue to do it here on the forum in front of the women and children, forcing us to remove you from the forum.

Glad to hear you figured it out

I used to pay more attention to the help forum when it was mostly people who truly needed assistance ASAP, but found more & more threads started by people that were merely impatient.

I feel the same way. Mostly a user issue, IMHO.
