60-second wait between searches

This is really annoying. If you do a search for something specific and then start modifying your search terms for better results, you CAN'T until you wait the 60 seconds between searches. This is ridiculous. Do we really have some sort of spam problem in searches where this is really necessary?

Go to advanced search and use the Google search function at the top center of the page. There are is no flood control on the Google search function.

Both are correct. We use that so hackers cannot crash the server by repeatedly hitting the search function.

If you go to advanced search, then use the google bar like Andy said, you can search like crazy.

You ever hear of "Denial of Service" attacks on a website? They set up a virus that circulates through hundreds if not thousands of computers (because so many people do not know how to secure them) and they ALL attack the website at once. We have experienced our share of them but because of our security measures, the damage has been minimal at best.

Thanks for the explanation. I figured it was some sort of security, but couldn't figure out WHY spamming a search engine for a specific website gets someone his jollies.... Go figure. Glad to know there is a way around it. I have so few posts because I almost always find what I need from the searches. They just took forever because of the wait in between modifying terms.
