Speekers in cab?

I just finished installing power door locks and windows, in doing so I noticed another set of speakers in the door were ruined. This is about the second set in the time that I have owned the truck. So my question is, where is the best place, besides the doors, in the cab to put speakers? My radio can handle four to six, I would like at least four. Is there a head liner set up I can buy? Pics would be great. Thanks

All three of our Dodge trucks have factory-equipped speakers in the rear cab-corners.

My 1972 Ford Hi-Boy has some huge Jensens mounted to the floor against the front of the seat.

Head-liner speakers look good in theory, but you tend to only hear the sound coming from the speaker closest to your head, UNLESS you pair the rights/lefts close together.

If you mean the plastic door panels yes. The reason the speakers are going bad is the window seals leaked (I think).

How do they mount them in the corners? That is where I want to mount them, I there a molding or special mount? I would like head liners also, that way I'll have four speakers total.

Jer here is a shot of my RLH speaker, ... they were there when I got my truck so dunno if stock or not. They've worked fine so haven't gotten into them. Can't say the same for the door spkrs tho so will watch this thread for ideas. ... these spkrs appear to just bolt on the wall but will pull'em off for you and get more pix if you wish.

The rears are a goofy 4x12 or something along that size range, and are really unnecessary. I have some 3 way JVC 6x9's in the doors(In the cheapie rubber boots they sell for them) and a single 10 behind the seat, it's more than enough, the the highs are nice and clear, and I highly doubt the rear speakers would really be heard.

I have 2 JL Audio 6x9s in the front doors. There is a plastic bag type cover that seals your speaker out from the weather to the metal door. it surrounds the back of your speaker. If it is not there i would get plastic and replace it because the water will just keep leaking into your speakers.

I also have 2 JL Audio 6x9s in the rear and it makes a big difference when i hear the rear speakers playing.

Check out this old thread:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...light=speakers

I'm running the referenced Polk Audio 6"x9" units and because they are marine-rated, they are somewhat resistant to dampness in the doors.

hifisoundconnection.com is a great place to get audio stuff. Most of the stuff on there is almost half priced.

These are the shields that protect the speakers from water running down your window.

Thanks for the pics, but mine is a regular cab and it looks like you have an extended cab. I don't think it would be the same behind there. I think I will just have to fab somthing up. I have a lot of room in the corners.

I've made rain shedders out of Cool Whip containers

And my regular cab 91.5 LE had rear corner 4x10s in fatory enclosures, just above the seat belt retractors.

Great links and thanks for the info, does any one know where to get the covers. I looked on those links and did't find any?
