some fool ran a light

Two days ago, some guy decided he was tired of waiting at a red light and pulled right in front of me, I was going about 35. No one was injured in my truck. He left in an ambulance (he walked to it) and his car left on a hook. Mine is drivable for the most part other than its out of alignment and i don't want to shred my new Dura Grapplers. So now I’m looking at replacement bumpers. I'm kind of leaning towards the TDK, but I don't know if they use the stock mounts and such, as mine are destroyed, it they rely on factory mounting, I’ll probably go with a Fab Fours. The Fab Fours also includes the fog lights, that I know need as well.

Bummer . . but could have been worse for you, and of course MUCH worse for him. Glad you both walked away.

When I got my Road Armor front bumper, all it used was the bumper mounting frame holes, the bumper came with it's own brackets, probably the same for the Fab Fours.

If you ever hit someone like that again with a HD front bumper like mine or the Fab Fours, they won't be walking to the ambulance, it will not absorb like the stocker did.

The estimate I got says $6282, and a lot of that is bumper, bumper brackets, bumper cover and a long list of bumper related items including the fogs lights and their brackets. The body shop seemed to think the insurance company would work with me as far as a replacement bummer goes. There are a lot of good looking bumpers out there. It just seems that the Fab Four replaces almost everything that has been damaged. Are there others that come with lights and all the mounting hardware to attach their bumper to the frame instead of just the bumper mounts? I like the Buck Stop and Road Armor too, any personal experiences with bumpers like these would be greatly appreciated.

Oh he was plenty scared for sure, as soon as he saw me all I saw was eyeballs. I didn't even have time to honk. I think he was actually stopped at the light and just pulled out. He was pretty loopy when the cop was trying to talk to him. I think he hit his head. His carelessness ruined two planned weekends out with the 5th wheel

your insurance company should cut the check in your name and the body shop name and then i would go about getting the bumper you want.

The body shop doesn't own the truck, I do. I always insist they put the check in my name only. They have to pay me to fix the truck back to the way it was before the accident. I don't have to fix it.

Those Ram bumpers can take a pretty good hit. I hit a guy with my 06 and the cop didnt believe my truck was involved.

This is common practice. It helps prevent fraud and makes sure the car actually gets fixed. Like Larry (TCG) said, sometimes you have to wreck the truck, to get the insurance money to make the payment.

fraud? if he owns the truck outright its not fraud to get an insurance company to cut you a check for damages. its your discretion to get the truck fixed or not. now if there is a lien on it, thats a different story.

I think the fact that the majority of the cars on the road are financed is the key.

I would bet that if you showed the Insurance company a clear title they would have no problem issuing you a check.
