So I decided to redo the stripe on my truck

After seeing how common my paint scheme is on my truck, I decided to change it up a little bit. I am ditching the red stripe with grey pinstripe, and replacing it with a solid 7/8" navy blue stripe. Wish me luck

Before (pic is old, but paint has stayed the same)

Here is how it sits right now. I am almost done with removal of the stripe and the adhesive.

The striping is vinyl and will be ready tomorrow. I am a little worried about getting it on straight, but I have alot so I can redo it if need be.

I have not been working much lately so I have also been working on:

Aux 50 gallon fuel tank with tool box..

BC847 DIY intake (waiting on elbows)... I'm not much of a fan of the turbo sound (it attracts attention), but I want better EGT's.

The OEM pinstriping has been discontinued but a couple of years ago my Dodge dealer found me a complete set sitting in a Mopar warehouse somewhere in Wisconsin.

IIRC, there were only three pinstriping color schemes available OEM. I chose the red and tan. (My truck was originally solid Light Champagne so it had no pinstriping; I added the Emerald Green accent.)

Good luck with your project.

You just answered the question I was fixing to ask.

The wife's truck is the two-tone black with silver.

The silver is outlined across the top with a red and silver stripe.

The stripe is faded and worn.

I guess I will have to maybe just paint a new stripe.

My local sign shop had many choices of pinstriping. You might try there to see if they have something you might like.

They make an eraser wheel that will remove the stripe and the glue at the same time. It goes on a drill and works very well and it will not damage the paint. Good luck

Yeah I have heard of that, but I ended up going the labor intensive route... razor blade and 3M adhesive remover.

The dealer that removed the police lettering and striping on my Crown Victoria used one of those wheels. I have plenty of gouges, scrapes and overheated clear coat to show you how not to use one!

There's even a first gen CC here with it, and at least two 2nd gen CC's. There's also a 1st gen guy on cumminsforum who lives in Riverton (90 miles away) with the same paint scheme...

Almost done! Just have to do that little spot by the mirror.

They are meant for pinstripes not that thick reflective material usually used on a police car. It can be done I have done it a lot and never hurt any paint. I guess you could mess up anything if you tried hard enoughlol...

It looks good from a distance (as pictured) Up close the truck looks more it's age.
