Vacation Question

Good Evening to everyone,

My wife and I are looking at taking a vacation to Hawaii in January. We have already been to Maui about two years ago and had a great time. We are thinking about going to Oahu or Kauai. What is everyone's opinion about which island we should visit? Thank you

Oahu is where I'd head if I was to go, just for Pearl Harbor. My sister and her husband went a couple of months ago. Brought back pics of the USS Missouri for me. They had a great time and had plenty to do on the island. JMO.

The Big Island is my favorite. You'll never see it all and it has stuff like flowing lava, a vast open desert, heavy rain, small towns, lava tubes, water falls, a few great beaches that are not crowded, excellent diving and snorkeling, the observatories, history, turtles, tourist areas, bla, bla, bla. If you like geology you can really see the formation of land and the way the lava layers over itself and builds up over many centuries of time. Some fresh lava is still hot under your feet, some is 50 years old and still black with buildings and sign posts sticking out of it. Some is 100 years old and beginning to grow nice bushes and small trees. As the new lava forms more and more land the island is crushing down under its own weight causing the Hawaiian version of earthquakes. It's a very dynamic place, yet peaceful. There is a lot of Hawaian cultural history to be seen there too.

A very cool place to visit.

Been to most of the islands when I lived on Oahu. I really enjoyed the Big Island. Something about watching land being made right in front of your eyes that makes the trip worth while.

Lots to see on Oahu .... you won't be sorry if you go there either.

Love the north side of Kauai. Wonderful swimming and the heli flight over the canyon is really neat. Of course, the heli flight over Poo Ooo (??? spelling???) vent and down to the sea was amazing also as well as swimming next to the flowing lava on the black sand beaches. Maui (spelling???) seemed a little tame after the other three islands.
