short block and injectors

k people heres the deal truck began blowing oil out vent tube and not starting so well when warmed up dropped it off a dodge dealership over a month ago they just called me today 1 and 6 cylinder only has 100 psi because apparently the 2 injectors were firing out to much fuel and burned up the block, i dont know if thats true but what really bit me in the **** was the 15 grand he quoted me for the parts only??? not sure what a short block is but he also said its their policy to do all injectors if 2 or more are gone?? any one else have this trouble and do it make sense to you handy people on here and mechanically inclined
2004 2500 dodge cummins just hit 163,000
go figure living in newfoundland

Well, theres a fairly low mileage 2004 engine complete in the classifieds for 3K, so I think I would be dropping in another engine and keeping your old one for parts......... 15K is not out of line for parts alone.

if you had injectors in bad enough condition to burn it down, then yes, replace all 6.
think about it this way, the fuel that go's thru the injectors is the same for all 6, if there was contaminents in the fuel that wore out the check ball seats, nozels etc, then all 6 are going to wear about at the same rate.

short block is basicly the botom end block crank rods pistons cam etc, no valvetrain/head
15k in parts for a shortblock is ALOT! for that price it'd better have custom pistons, balanced to .5gr etc... not something you'll see @ a ***********

the thing that realy sux, if its an injector prob that caused the issues, a inexpesive 2mic filter setup woulda prevented it...

I was taking it the 15K was for all the parts required, top to bottom.

15K for a shortblock would be nuts..........
