Progress on the '89.

Here are some of the recent mods to the puller:

Got a newer grille put in:

Made a reservoir for the power steering and got rid of the vacuum diaphragm's. No more burping fluid, and it steers awesome. Even turning around in 4wd with welded axles.

Even got the South Bend 12 ceramic button solid hub DD in. We went with the 3600 plate load. Our bell housing did not have webbing inside, so we had no clearance issues at all. We are going to have to get the slop out of the clutch pedal for full dis-engagement though. Going to add a stainless braided line too.

Had a chance to do some road testing with the water to air IC installed. Did not have water in it. Just to test the pressure drop of it in the system. It dropped the boost about 2-3 psi over the non-IC setup. Still waiting on the water pump to get some ice water run through it.

We are getting about 57 psi overall boost with 50-51 psi drive pressure. Not a trace of smoke once it is spooled. Really need to get them EDM's in....

how involved was the newer grille? did you swap rad supports? or just mount the lights a little farther forward?

We moved the headlights. Did it like it shows in the sticky. Used 1" x 1" angle iron. Put the grille on and tack welded them into place. Removed the grille and welded them good. They basically get moved forward an inch, up an inch or so, and out a little towards the fender. Have to cut holes for the parking light plug's.

The ice water system is coming soon.

Yeah we got the sled pulling SFI 3600. It is as big as the stock hydro's can run I guess. Should hold what we will be throwing at it for now. It can be changed down the road. I engaged it a few times, seemed ok. We are in the process of beefing up the stock clutch line. Should have it going soon.

Here is some pics of the IC:

We also installed a GM radiator, too. Kind of a custom deal, but it works good.

How did you mount the PS pump directly to the gear case? Anything special?

Also, is that gm radiator any bigger than stock, other than its a cross flow vs the non IC down flow?

The non-IC vac. pump housing is still there. Just blocked off the diaphragm openings. The GM rad is a hair smaller, but is 3 core. I'm pretty sure the old one was 2 core, plus it was rotten and weighted about 35#.

Yeah the grille made it. Had it on within hours of getting home.

Got the braided clutch line on last night. Fixed the slop in the M/C rod bushing too. Clutch works good now.

It is actually not grabby at all.
Does this change once you get it broke in?

I was gonna take pics of it, but didn't get time tonight. Our stock plastic clutch line had steel ends in it. Cut the plastic away and brazed the barbed end's to a -4 jic fitting. Used this hose, 36":

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Stainl...-End,1994.html

Probably a cleaner way to do it, but I could not find those fittings.

I did notice my '93 had a slightly different slave setup. I don't think it has a bleeder, the '89 does.
