x-monitor fuel pressure gauge erratic

i installed my x-monitor tonite. everything went smooth, but the fuel pressure reading is super erratic? at idle it will bounch around anywhere from 9 to 17. same at all throttle positions. at wot i got it down to 3.6 and few minutes later wot again and it was at 15.3 ? anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? i have it hooked up per the instuctions, except i didnt ground it at battery, i grounded on a chassis bolt that had another ground wire on it. TIA

Do you have a needle valve between the fuel pressure tap and sender??

no, i just used whatever they sent in the kit. a banjo bolt, reused the 2 washers, the electric sender and the wires

i had the same problem and even grounding it to the batts and putting in a needle valve it was still very irratic. sent FP sending unit back and it checked out ok but they sent me a new one just because. never did get it to smooth out so i went with a mechanical gauge instead. had enough of watching the gauge bounce all over. it worked just not to my liking.
sorry its not the news you wanted to hear but thats my story. and did i mention i hate electronic devices! hope the needle valve works for you though.

i called b-d, and wayne told me to hook-up a mechanical gauge to see if it is still erratic. he said if it is, i have a bad overflow valve? or something like that. if not then the sender is bad and to send it back for a new one. i will try it this weekend and let ya know what i come up with. i hate the idea of putting mechanical gauges in my truck, thats why i got the x-monitor. and i dont plan on bombing it, just an ez and injectors down the road.
