Wrong reading?

I currently have a 98 12valve 5 speed that I'm running and because of technical issues, a HY35 was installed.

A month ago I installed an autometer pyro and boost. I installed the power for both gauges, lights and pyro power, into a white bulkhead under the steering column that for some odd reason, bridged to the radio and would play to the rythm. I had enough of that, rigged the pyro to a switch(12volt power) and everything seemed to work better. The temperature readings even lowered to what I thought, normal.

Now today, I installed a number 12 fuel plate and pushed it full forward. The response is phenominal. There's lots of smoke IF I come onto it. Even fifth gear has a slight puff. However, my pyro doesn't SEEM to read hotter than before. I haven't come onto it full bore in fifth gear either but even in fourth it doesn't seem to climb.

This has me to wonder... did I fry my pyro? Everything under the hood seems cool... but I'm still a bit curious here. With that turbo there should be more heat I figure. The boost even saw 41PSI which is a one time thing trust me.

BTW outside temp is about 12 degree Celcius.

Out in the cold...
Mike

Did you go pre turbo? Whats your readings? You might try tapping the face on guage. My Autometer sticks and I have to tap it to get it to move a lot.

It's probed in the rear half of the manifold therefore pre turbo. Currently it's reading 250-300 idle which seems accurate and cruising in 3rd or 4th at low gear it's a little above 4. But even on the top end, wide open I only see 750-800

Mine reads about the same. Lower than I expected even with the smarty. I hope someone else will post so we can get a better answer.

With that plate slid all the way forward that is way low. Check all of your connections. The ground is crucial to the operation so check that to make sure it is good. With that plate slid all the way forward I would think you should see 1250 pre turbo pretty quickly.
