John, how was hunting?

 

Let's just say Elk hunting requires lots of time to extract enough soup material from all the tracks .

 

Yep, the sensor is behind the grill. Once you cover up the front, your display will read a lot warmer than reality. Only other option is to move the sensor to another location. I haven't found it to be a big enough problem to worry about it (yet).

 

Don't think you can see it on mine, but I relocated it to behind rams head upper left side. Temperature reading is still out about 2-3 degrees though.

I'm the guy who still has my 01 powerstroke , But loves my new Dodge toy ...LOL ... I'm waiting for my title to come back from the bank before I deside what I do with this ford truck .
I never had to cover the grill on the ford ... but my ford has this warm up valve ... it's supose to come on when it's cold out... the <edit> thing comes on when if 90degree's out ...LOL
So how well dose the block heaters work ... I have yet to plug it in and see if it works yet ... should I get one of those winter covers ...?

Putting winter front on will warm up engine faster, and keep near operating temp better. This will give you better cab heat, burn off oxidants in oil, and less exhaust smoke. You can check block heater by plugging it in, and listen by front wheel for noise from heating element, or with DVmeter.

 

I had to put the cold weather front on mine in order to keep the engine temp up high enough to heat my cab while creaping along in rush hour traffic. Kept freezing my toes off in the sub-zero weather. Still can't figure out why they call it "rush hour" when nothing is moving... kind of like why we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway...

When cruising on the Hwy - say 70 mph....anyone have expirience as far as how warm is too warm, for the "fronts"?

We had a warm spell for a couple days and it got up to 70, never had a heat problem.

 

The winter front should removed when the fan will not stop running and the water temp will not stop rising above the normal summer towing hot line. PK

 

I got the lund cold fronts on my 01.5 sport and i have had zero problems with over heating before i could not keep it at 190 only if i stayed on it it would drop down to 185 after the cold fronts were on it warms up nice and fast and stays at 190 perfect. I tow heavy and often with my cold fronts on never a lick of problem. the only problem i had was mine being a sport its like tryin to put a round peg in a square whole not a whole lot of options for a sport but as luck would have it my dealer ship just had one left in stock for a sport and i got them talked down from 65 bucks to 55 bucks

 

I have the cardboard in mine. It runs about 180 all the time and warms up much faster. I have it in front of the intercooler. I did cut a little out about 1/2 around the oil cooler as it seemed that the oil pressure acted like it was pretty warm. In fact the cooler was. This helped a lot. It still gets warm but not like before. guess I need to accurately test the temp. Other wise we have a couple hundred boxes at work that just fit. haha cut a 6 inch hole and you are done. I carry a spare inthe back seat. I can use it to crawl around in the dirt too. if need be.

I've tried this... I got a piece of thin sheet metal with a hole in the middle. But it too much for around here... It really runs the temp up too much...

So I've got me some aluminum and I'm going to cut me out some inserts to put in my grille to block the cold winter air... New Meadows ID in the morning is about 0* to 20*F above lately. Sure brings down the EGT's...

 

My Lund Cold Fronts only came with 4 pcs how did you get the two bottom pieces or did I miss something when I ordered??
