________________________________________
Quote:

"A friend of mine purchased John_P's used B-1....
He was concerned that he was losing HP because
it had the small KS housing. I know it was supposed
to be a Kwikspool, but it is not."
____________________________________ ____

Larry:

I respect you work and your accomplishments too.
Sorry to hear those P7100 pumps are not working for
you like you thought they would.

About those B-1's I tried........I stand by my prior
post on how they worked on my 96' 12 valve. But
with reference to the B-1 I sold to Jason. I was told
by Kurt that I was in fact getting the "Kwikspool"
housing and now I am told that it is the regular
housing. What does that tell you??? :

The turbo that Jason now has on his truck also
exhibited a "skipping" or "stalling" while pulling a
heavy load. On the first trip it happened to me
on, I was on an exceptionally bumpy section of
E/B I-40 going through Greensboro. My foot was
on the accelerator and suddenly the turbo began
making a steady "skipping" or "stalling" noise,
(something like; shh, shh, shh, shh etc.). It
got progressively worse until the truck "shuddered"
and I had to let off the fuel to get it to stop.
Very annoying to say the least! Now,....the other
B-1 that I had on my truck NEVER had done that, so
something was definitely different between the two!
I will add that in talking to Kurt, he said they aware
of some of the turbos doing that but that there was
nothing he felt he could do at that time. I have said
before Kurt's service was always good and he always
would take time to talk to us about any problems we
had. But,.....I tow pretty regularly so I knew I had
to make some changes which I did. I also reralize
that Kurt has made some changes to his turbos so
noone else may have the problems I did. As you
pointed out Larry, turbo technology has come a
long way in the last year or too. The "ball bearing"
and VVGT turbos we are seeing on gas and diesel
engines are evidence of that.

Finally, the B-1's do seem to work better on the manual
transmission 24 valve trucks. My son also put that same
B-1 on his 2001 24 valve with an automatic and it DID
NOT perform as good as the Piers HX-40 did! That was
with a TST PM 3 "piggybacked" with a DD TTPM, Super
mental Injectors, 4" exhaust, ATS tranny, so he definitely
had enough fuel!

I am glad that you, Jason and others are happy with your
B-1's, but for me and others I know the B-1 just didn't
work. Like many others, I will eventually have a set of
twins anyway. Every twin set-up I have ridden in has
been nothing short of impressive!

-------
John_P

DOES THE B1B "QUICK SPOOL" and B3 combo with external wastegate sound like a good combo for an automatic with an 89% TQ?

Thanks Andrew
1)I want as much streetable power as I can get eventually.
2)I currently run DDIII's and make plenty of smoke
3)I run the DTT Tranny with the 89% converter add to this the fact that my truck has 3:54 gears and 36" tires!

From what I have read in all those previous threads the most current threads indicate that the B1B "quick spool" mated up to the B2 would be a great combo for my truck and would allow me to ultimately go to even more fuel if desired. IF the B1B Quick Spool spools as fast as what they say it does! ???

Anyone got a take on whether or not my truck will still be a smoke show or if this will keep me out of trouble with the smoke?

Re:Will this twin turbo set up work well

I saw a B-1/B-2 twin setup at Muncie..... The HP output was a little shy of 700 HP. As I recall it was around 300 HP shy, the truck only made around 410 HP! The fellow running the setup was pretty disappointed in the #. Do some research there is a lot more to building a good set of twins then just bolting on a couple turbos.

Doug
