why not the hx40

They seem like a decent bang for the buck turbo and you can find them as cheap as $800. Why dont many people use them...or do they? I saw on a few sites that they are good for 350-450 hp...seems like they would fit most of our builds ro am i missing something?

the hx40 has a puny shaft that does not like to be barked, ive seen more than three snapped shafts.

People are alays quick to jump to huge turbos and twins.

HX-40 is plenty.

Heres a quick recipe for 500hp/1000tq on a 2001.

http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/brandpa...ram/index.html

Consists of:
Edge Juice
Jammer Stage 3 injectors
HX-40 Max boost turbo kit
Clutch
Fuel upgrades
exhaust/intake.

Screw the 40. Go full b-1. The 40's are good little turbos if piers modifys them. If they don't they can break shafts real easily. I'm enjoying my KSB-1. Bigger than the 40, just as fast spool up as my HY35, 1150-1200* EGT's at 371hp at 40psi.

I ran a PDR40 at 460hp on my 01 for around 30K without issue, was a good turbo, a little laggy for my tastes with a tight converter but worked well.

I ran a CityDiesel"Hotrod"40 on my 94 at 360hp for about 10k and it worked well too, hard to compare the two because of the two much different trucks, but I think they work better on 24valves.

so if pick up a piers modified hx40 it will have a stronger shaft that shouldnt break.

i can pick up a used piers 40 for like $600, and make about 420 hp with lower EGT's or i can keep saving and wait to go all out with a PS62
