Why Dont You Have Stacks?
I wouldnt mind to have a single turnout or Mitre in my truck(6"), but I hate to cut a hole in my bed, and then realize I dont like it on long trips. The rain would always be keeping my truck dirtier than it stays anyway, and the smoke is harder to watch come out. I would like the sound in the cab with the back glass open, but it wont ever echo off of anything to the side of you. Plus everyone I have ever talked to seems to really like the exhaust I have on my truck, and tells me to leave it. If I didnt have to cut a hole in my bed, I WOULD try a stack. But I dont wanna not be happy with it, and then have a big hole in my bed.
Blackdiesel: Just because a bull hauler doesent go straight up doesent mean it wont catch rain
. My buddies is horrible. The side of his dually is never clean.

How come the big rigs don't run the exhaust under the truck then and dump them under the truck or out behind the rear set of wheels if that was such a problem.
See by going UP into the air, they are more dissipated to give a less chance of breathing in a black cloud of death or driving through one.

#1. Nothing more silly than a 52 year old guy trying to act like a kid. Stacks are for young guys looking to attract a race or chicks. I have no need for either.
#2. I'm not cutting holes in my truck. Makes the value drop like a rock.
#3. I prefer the "sleeper" look. Stacks shout; "I'm hear look at me."
#4. My wife says no. This should be rule #1.

Ouch. I'm a chick and I have stacks. A lot of women do check me out though.....creepy... and gross.
Just installed six inch stacks on my 2001 short bed love the sound and attention that comes with them. Would like to know more about re-installing my flush mount tool box back in my short bed. Was thinking about shaving the corners off any suggestions.
hello
I think they do look good on a truck with training wheels.
Main reason the trucks we have don't have stacks is
THEY WOULD MAKE A MESS OF THE 5TH WHEEL CAMPER.
I also like to SHARE some DIESEL #2 perfume with knuckle heads that don't know which lane they are suppose to drive in when going slow.
See Ya

semis do not run stacks because the strait pipes are too loud. probably 90+% of big trucks have a muffler on them, i think they run stacks because thats one of the things that make truckin' truckin. big, noisey, smokey, and lookin good, that's what truckin's all about. hey, we need to have something to enjoy while on the road.

A) Semi trucks use stacks to be able to run straight pipes and have the noise cast in the direction generally least annoying to surrounding vehicles and pedestrians: Up.
B) Your Dodge pickup is not a big rig. Now we are left to wonder what you are compensating for in trying to make believe that it is.
C) It is very common for medium duty diesel trucks to have exhausts that simply turn down just past a muffler. Particulate dispersion has nothing to do with it. What a ridiculous notion. But feel free to keep entertaining us with the Fast & Furious type of rationalizations for a functionally useless modification.
Perhaps you should start another thread extolling the virtues of stacks on light duty pickups.

B) stacks ARE cool. end of story
I got picks in my gallery of my toolbox set up.
Scramblinman, why are you getting so wound up over a few guys that want to put stacks on their truck? its not yours, it has nothing to do with you, dosnt pertain to your truck, so why do you worry about it?
now dad made me put stacks on my truck
for my physical well-being he said. Something about a 250lb harley dude i smoked out one day that followed me for about 25 miles
making the exaust exit upwards makes it seem not-so-personal. However there are a few types of people you dont want to mess with. And a redneck is one of them. Mostly because he is usually armed....

Blackdiesel, the real question should be why you and Dave are getting so wound up because someone else does not like stacks or other functionally useless modifications. I also don't wax my truck 5 times week, vacuum it out daily, detail the dash vents with Q-Tips and Armor All, or polish the engine compartment. I could understand your defensiveness if this was a pro-stack thread. But it is not. Instead, it specifically asks why we don't have stacks. I have offered my opinions and will back them up in this within thread. I would think that that is the intent of this thread. I do not go into threads discussing or bragging about stacks and crap all over them with my negative opinion of them and the reasons for using them. I could really care less about stacks, but if specifically asked for my opinion, I don't mind offering it. I'm wondering why some feel compelled to come in this thread and argue with people who dislike stacks. I'm certain that there are more than enough threads in which to discuss stacks in a positive manner. If nothing else, you could always start yet another one. If you like stacks, good for you. If I think it makes your truck look like the equivalent of a Civic with a fart can and a three foot tall wing, that's my prerogative as well.
I like the stacks, when I see them I have to try and listen. I did not vote however. I thought hard about stacking my truck and really planned on it.....but I just can't get over cutting the hole in the bed, plus my toolbox. I know it can be done, it's just the big hole in the bed......did I say that already? So I think I'll just go back to my original plan of a 5" tailpipe and shove a 6" tip on it for some BASE!!
