What torque converter?

I just bought a completely stock 95 ram , 4x4 , auto.

I am going to be bombing it come spring , i am shooting for 450-500 hp , but i may just got for 400 or so.

What converter do i need to hold that hp? it'll be mostly daily driver. I probably won't drag race it , i might try and hook onto the sled sometime , but i doubt it.

I am just looking at a converter and a shift kit for now...

Any good yet affordable suggestions?

P.S.- is there much price difference between single and triple disc? and do i really even need a triple disc?

i an doing this right now and am going thropugh the same q's as you here is what dave goerend told me
Hi Kyle

we have run single disc converters past 500 hp with no problem as long as you are not pulling heavy we like the triple when you are pulling because you would not be at full throttle while pulling and the extra plates in the converter insure no slip I can set the pressure a little higher for the single disc when you are racing or sled pulling you will be at wide open throttle anyway so there will be plenty of pressure for the converter clutch

cost of the trans with a single is 2450 warranty on the trans is still 100,000 miles and the warranty on the single is also 100,000

thanks again
Dave

withthe triple disk it would be 2850

hey dave, Dave Goerend quoted u 2800?? ive never called them yet and have been wondering what their prices are...so i can get a tranny shipped to me for 2800 + shipping and handling??....or is 2800 just for hard parts and then add like 8 labour hours for rebuilding?

I am looking to just buy a converter and put it in myself. I think single disk is the answer for me , cheaper and i don't tow, practially ever.
