What mods are needed?

ok guys so im kinda new to 12v's. i have a 98 auto that i originally bought for a drag truck, but turned into a daily driver for awhile. now it looks like im finally gonna get to do what i sat out to do. i need some help from you guys that know 12v's. what mods are needed for me to hit around 1000 h/p at the wheels? i know its gonna be expensive so it will take time but i just wanna know what it will take so i can start to lay out my plans and find out what exactly im lookin at spending here. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well first of all you are looking at a LOT of money just for the beefed up tranny alone, that will prob run 4k to 6k by itself. Engine mods will prob include a 0 plate with pump work. Big injectors prob 300hp, upgraded lift pump to handle all the fuel you will b throwing. 4k gsk so u dont top out at 2700 rpm. and with all that fuel i would suggest twins to help keep your egts down when your hard on it, and increase your boost to make the most power out of all that extra fuel. You will need your heads fireringed and studded to with stand the extra boost you will b pushing(anything over 45psi and its recomended). 5in exhaust system with aftermarket manifold. And this is just the basics. I bet im forgeting a few things, im sure others will give more imput

Getting the 1000 hp mark is pricey. Added to the above is work to re-rod the engine and balance to high 4k rpm, girdle the block, select a cam and set to work on the tuning for pump (bench flow and possible re-barrel), injectors for the fuel flow, plus any other adders you want to run such as water/meth or Nos. Selecting turbos for the twins alone will set you back anywhere from $3K if you do all the fab yourself up to $8K for and established set.

I would select the time goal you want to achieve and start doing some research on the net to see what the trucks have that are currently out there. There is a truck build underway in the ABDTR#5 area that may give you some ideas on what you are up against.

At the level you want to run, you would probably be better served over at the competition diesel forum.

You are going to a level where you will need people who have been there, done that.
