I Ordered the ARP Head Studs today I paid $399. I sure hope I done the right thing. Everyone here seems to like them and Even a Cummins buddy here that does ALOT of HotRodding swears by them. BUT in the Power Stroke world they are not liked at all so we use A-1 H11 Studs and my buddy here says they are Junk on the Cummins. I am so confused. Please help me believe I done the right thing.

Rest assured that the ARP studs are sufficient. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal too. I have a set of 12mm ARPs waiting to go in as well. There are lots of guys out there that are running them.

One the valve covers you will need to grind down the "spider web" casting ridge on the drivers side of all the valve covers. Cummins shop clearanced them for me once. I had to do it one more time. If anyone needs photos I can get them when I get my truck back....

The Helix 2 is an aftermarket camshaft.

Those studs for $360 are listed as ARP's 8740 grade with a 200,000 psi tensile stength. Most of the other companies are selling ARP's 2000 material (slightly stronger) head studs rated at 220,000 psi for a few bucks more. If you are going thru all that work to install them I wouldn't skimp on a lesser product.

I don't know the difference or part # but it was something that jumped out at me. I'd like to find out since I need a set soon.

Edit: I found this on ARP's site:http://www.arp-bolts.com/Tech/TechMetals.html

Well I was told they changed to the better stuff But this is driving me crazy since I ordered a set already and I pick them up in the morning. If they are the weaker set I dont want them But noone seems to know all this stuff. I am wondering if Northern Auto just never changed thier wording?
