What box?

I am replacing the tranny next week, as well as an injection pump and some other stuff. I currently have a 99 2500 lifted, straight 4" pipe, BHAF, gauges, and a superchip tuner. I am having the tranny built by a buddy that specializes in Dodge tranny's. He said it will hold up to 500 HP. I want to add some pep to the little ram. Which box should I get? Can I stack the Edge box with my Supership tuner? How about the VAn Aken. What do you guys recomeend. I want to run this once in a while, but I am primarily focused on towing performance, and roasting my buddies 6.0 Powerjoke.

TST Competition model. Nothing fuels harder. It starts fueling at .5psi boost!

Leave it off for towing. Turn it on kill for "roasting your buddy's 6.0 Powerjoke."

JH,
Was my understanding...from Mark Chappel, that PM3's start fueling at 3 psi? Maybe I misheard him as mine seems to smoke more at idle on higher settings.
Two questions...
1-Are you saying the PM3 Comp comes in sooner than PM3? Did not think it did from idle, just more per setting higher up.
2-Don't really understand (never came up) how box knows when/where boost is. Assuming some kind of boost pressure sensor, than a larger turbo will actually activate PM3 later...correct?

RJ

Sorry...three questions!

I don't know anything about TST's but I love my Edge Comp, it's pretty . You don't need to stack it with anything, it has timing and fuel.

Any of these box's are good. I really like my drag comp. If your after all out performance, nothing fuels as hard as the redline box from bluechip and it extends your rpm to 4000.

Yes, PM3s start a 3psi. Comp version starts at .5psi. That assumes highest fuel setting.

Box plugs into MAP sensor. That's how it reads boost. You knew that

Yes, larger turbo will activate TST boxes later. That's why TST boxes perform so differently in different combinations. Faster spool means harder fueling. Slower spool, softer fueling.

The TST box (again highest setting) has X amount of fuel programmed once it detects WOT. Each level of boost has its own amount of fuel. IOW-- you get more fuel from the box at 20psi than at 5psi. This is how the TST box makes power while still being CARB approved. It only adds fuel once boost is present, and it adds fuel in proportion to air, so it won't smoke.

The Comp programmed TST will get ahead of the boost curve a bit, so you will see smoke even with stock injectors. With big injectors-- look out! The Comp version bring fuel in earlier, brings more fuel with it, and tops out sooner. The Comp version can be programmed to insanely high fueling-- 80% and higher! (for reference, most "hot" fueling boxes top out at 63%)

This is why an Edge Comp and a TST can perform so differently while still giving the same peak HP.

Example: you are on a DynoJet with light rollers. Edge box will dyno more HP.

Mustang dyno: if load is brought on lightly, Edge will dyno higher. If load is brought on hard and fast TST will fuel VERY hard and will dyno higher than the Edge box.

The TST is more sensitive to other factors with the truck, because it relies entirely on boost. The Edge box reads pedal position while the TST doesn't.

That's my understanding. I haven't called Mark in a while, so my memory could be off.
