Vulcan pusher pump install
Vulcan pusher pump install
I installed the vulcan relocate and big line kit on my truck today. It is awsome. I am getting 14.8 to 15 psi at idle and it will only pull down to 12 psi at wot. Very impressive. My only problem is that I have had to jerry rig my fuel pressure gauge since it would not fit on the top of the filter housing with the new AN connectors from vulcan. I have tried 2 auto parts stores and 2 hardware stores trying to find an adaptor. I guess I will have to order what I need from summit if pep-boys does not have it when I check tomorrow The folks at napa did not even know what an AN -4 fitting was. I just hope the pressuer is not too much for my 15 lb auto meter fuel pressure gauge.
Vulcan has a inline fuel tap made to use on the 98.5-99 trucks. I just checked their web sight and it shows the tap made into the 00-02 kits.
Call Eric at Vulcan and let him know what you are needing. He is a good guy to deal with.

In what way is the kit affecting how your psi gauge affected? Mine is mounted to teh forward most port on top of the housing. i have yet to get a chance to install my vulcan kit....
id say yes your 15lb gauge is the wrong choice.....

The only reason that the vulcan kit affected my fuel pressure gauge was that I had hard mounted the isolator on top of the fuel filter. When I moved it I had trouble finding a hose. I wound up getting a speed shop to make up a stainless steel hose with 4-AN fittings that the isolator used and getting an adapter for 1/8 npt to 4-AN to put on the port on the filter top. The JIC fittings in the vulcan kit stuck up higher than the banjo fittings.
The vulcan kit is awsome my vp44 seems to run quieter for some reason and the fuel pressure is awsome. Especially coming from a stock lift pump.
I am shopping for a 30 lb gauge to replace my current 15 lb since it stays pegged at idle and runs at 14 to 13.5 at 70 mph. 12.5 at wot.

ahhh ok, cuz i simply used a 90* npt elbow to a 2 inch npt stright pipe to the needle valve then line tot eh gauge. I have diprocal 0-30 lb gauge . might work better for you.... id say your pulling at least 17 if not more at idle with the kit...

Thank you Phatboy. I talked to Eric at Vulcan today and he will be shipping me the fuel kit tomorrow for my truck. Now I just need to get everything figured out as to what I'll be putting on for FP, EGT, and Boost gauges. I'm thinking the DiPricol gauge kit for pillar mounting from dieselmanor. Just don't know what to do about whether to use an isolator or not.??? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've got Vulcan's kit also and the FP gauge is really simple to spice into the fuel line. The vulcan fitting simply fits in-line between the fuel filter and IP.
I highly suggest using a needle valve as others have suggested. Put it right on the vulcan fitting. Close the valve until you crank the truck, then crack the valve as little as you can. This will give nice, steady readings on your gauge.
I chose not to use an isolator due many others experiences of isolator failures. This will let diesel into the cab anyway. I used a 1/4" diesel rated rubber fuel line straight to my gauge. The only downside I found to this hose was the outside diameter of the hose was quiet large. Others will tell you to use stainless hose for peace of mind, which will also work great, but costs quite a bit more.
