O.k, I'm going to buy a small box for my truck (no wire tap) and since so many people are trading on 3'rd Gens there are lots of used boxes around these days.

My choices seem to be the original Van Aaken (with no boost fooler) or an Edge EZ.

I know the EZ is the popular choice, but alot of people have told me that the original Van Aaken is an awesome box and makes better low end power??

What do you all think. If I get the Van Aaken should I add a boost fooler too???

you will want a boost fooler if you go with the older van aaken .try to find one that has the boost fooler built in . the one i picked up has the boost fooler .

 

boost fooler is needed, as well as a replacement elbow for the wastegate line. If you want to be able to ontrol the boost, get an adjustable elbow so you can alter the max boost.

 

The "new" Van Aaken V5 smart box has a built in
boost fooler. It doesn't come with an elbow, so you
can order one from TST Products if you want to
increase boost above stock.

 

If I get the original, I think I'll get a boost fooler from BD and then clamp the waste gate shut andd forget about it. My wastegate isn't working anyway, so I'm boosting like 25 psi now on my stock truck. With the fooler on there I won't get the code.
