NOt to bust anyones feeling up, but Bob Wagner brings up a good point they are out of business thus no warrenty. I was you id look at a quadzilla xzt+ 70hp box, lots of power (more then the old ez i ran), you can specially tune it off the internet. And Quadzilla's costomer service is outstanding. Just my 02. But i have heard alot of good stuff about VA over the years of reading but just never had one.
No warranty, yes, everyone should understand that is the case. However, it is proven by years of service, is not reported to spontaneously ignite and costs $150, which is 1/3 of anything else. This suits me just fine; others may prefer a $700 chip with warranty.
Yes, I totally admit that it was on your tip that I found my VA-R! I definitely appreciate your advice Bob, it was in time and dead on! Could not have given better
In fact, I sent at least 3 other people to call you when they were asking me about power upgrades. I said, you either get the parts or he will make a good suggestion - either way you won't waste the time with Bob.
You mean, Rich ran out of them? Bummer. I think he may still have some switches left, he was not putting them for sale but had some forgotten ones in stock.
After running VA one way and another I now pretty much just leave it in boost fooling mode only when towing, and turn on 100% when not. If I forget about it I smoke out the cars behind me

My Smartbox R came in the mail today. (Whoohoo!) could you elaborate about running it in boost fooling only mode? It's 2nd hand of course and no instructions but for $125 I figured I couldn't go wrong. I've got a set of rv275s on order as well!
Randy.
Randy.
Boost fooling only mode is when you insert a jumper or a switch in closed position between the wires of the small pigtail that hangs loose and does not seem to connect to anything. Same pigtail controls the 3 power levels of the unit: Open=100%, Shorted=0% (boost fooling only), 2.7 kOhm = 50% power.
