Van Aaken?

Is the Van Aaken Smartbox R and/or V5 truly model-year agnostic as they claim on their website, or are they oversimplifying in the marketing materials? They say it fits 98.5-02 24v engines, but so does Edge, and they have different models of Comp for 98.5-00, 01, and 02. I'm curious because I might have found a good buy on a Van Aaken, but I don't want to buy it unless it's going to work, obviously. Thanks.

If its the model that attaches to the vp44 it will work on 98.5 -02, if it attaches to the datalink or map sensor then its year specific

the va box works nice

Thanks! I was going to bid on the thing on eBay and the auction ended before I saw your reply. A little research indicated that the unit in the auction was a BD Plug-n-Power, so I'm not sure where it plugged in. I wasn't having much luck finding any good info about the thing by any name at all. If it would have worked it would have been a screaming good deal, but if not it would have been money wasted no matter how cheap it was. Thanks again for the reply.

I have the original BD Plug-N-Power. It plugs into the VP44, and the original harness plugs into it. This original model does not have a connection to the MAP sensor (boost module), so you need to run a seperate boost module if using big injectors.

It does work excellent - Love it.
