Update on SB DD Install

Well, after having some serious issues with my truck and having the transmission out 5 times, the culprit has been found. The original shop that installed the clutch put one of the disks backwards. When I talked to Peter originally he said the hard to shift and growling noises were sometimes normal and to give it 500 miles, well 500 miles later and the clutch is pretty much shot. I didn't talk to Peter personally today, I got a hold of another guy there, he made it sound I'm pretty much screwed and will have to fork over the cash for a new clutch. Hopefully when I get in touch with Peter tomorrow he can set things straight, all this power and no way to get it 2 the ground

Man, that sucks. You should make the shop pay for the clutch if it comes to that! If the shop didn't know exactly how to install the clutch they should have called SouthBend and asked before they even tried to do the job or said straight up they didn't feel comfortable doing the install... Poor service if you ask me.

Those disks are so clearly labeled... this side to flywheel, this side to pressure plate etc...

Shop needs to pick that up NOT south bend... What did SBC do wrong to deserve eating the cost of a clutch??

Im not expecting SB to pick up the cost of the clutch, hoping he can work an exchange price though. Im gonna have to front the cash but you bet your butt I will be seeking damages from the shop that originally installed it. I'll probably have to take em to small claims court. Should've just taken some time off work and installed it myself, this is just a reminder why I don't like other people working on my truck.

Not only is the discs clearly labeled, it comes pre-assembled, so take note when you take it apart and there is no reason to screw up like that. Go to the shop and don't leave until they replace that clutch free of charge, for both parts and labour. It wasn't your mistake, you shouldn't pay for it.

Well talked to Peter today, told him I was needing to purchase another clutch. He said not to worry about it, just pay for the shipping on the new clutch and the old one back to him. He definitely gets an A++++++++ for customer service. He had no reason whatsoever to replace that clutch under warranty. Peter just got him a customer for life

I'm one of those too. I just purchased my third South Bend Clutch and Peter was more than willing to help me out. The old clutch didn't look bad for the two years of abuse it had gone through- I think it just needs a new floater plate. The new dual disk shifts quicker, drives better, and has stock like pedal pressure. Which one did you end up with?
