twin piping

Most twin piping is welded, but has anybody used exhaust parts and just clamp them together to build the piping or would it even work ,it would be much easier to adjust, but I imagine brackets would have to be built to hold the bottom turbo since the clamps probly woundn't hold the weight, and what type of welder to people ussually weld the piping with,Mig,Tig or would a plain old wire welder be ok
