I'm working on one right now, but its nowhere near being complete.

First bit of advice, get a spare motor and tranny so you can mock it up on. Less down time on your truck. If thats not an option, gather all your parts prior to building on your truck, unless you can afford some downtime. This is especially important if you are getting parts shipped (like from another country, as in my case). Little stuff like oil lines, boots, clamps, flanges, etc. It also depends on how complex you are going. Are you using an external wastegate? Or two of them? What turbos? I'm gonna be running two wastegates on mine, full v-band plumbing in the hot pipe, and on the discharge of both compressors. Also need to look at how you're mounting the primary. Off the hot pipe, or are you making a seperate mount for it?

Also make sure your equipment is in good working order. My welder quit on me 2 weeks ago. Had I been mocking up on my truck, that would have been a week of no progress while it was down. Thats all I have for now. When I get further into it, hopefully I'll have learned something else.

I'm working on mine at this time doing a lot of changes so I didn't plan on a time frame other then 6weeks In my son in laws building as mine was to full to get it in and MN is cold this time of year.He has very little in fabrication tool so I have to do a lot of back to my shop trips. a mock up is nice but not all that necessary just requires leaning over the fender a lot. I spent a day on the lath turning the ve clamp flanges and the flange setup to go from the primary turbo to the 06 exhaust brake witch is a 5" to 4" ve adapter and making the hot pipe TO6 flange.Monday the elbows will be hear and I will build the cold pipe and send it out to get power coated getting the hot pipe is the most important as all the set up comes off of its location.I build all the parts that I can to keep the cost down I have been taking pics and I will post the end of the week total cost with a used primary turbo is 450. but thats not with the new top turbo and manifold if I did it again I would reuse the stock exhaust manifold I like to use hoses less vibration and alignment is simpler. I tac the parts with my portable wire feed and bring it back to my shop to tig it. the primary mount is bolted to the 3 bosses on the bock buy the oil drain back.I find it hard to measure the bosses so I use thin cardboard like a cereal box to make templates spray paint the bosses and place the template on the bosses.Hope this helps.

I also built my own set. I mocked mine up right on the truck. Took some time but wasn't too bad. I wish I would have taken the time to order the parts before I started fabbing, nothing more aggrevating than waiting on a tubing bend or oil line. IIRC I used to 4" 90s 1 3.5" 90 2 3" 90s one schedule 40 3" 90. I made all my flanges and bottom support bracket. There are a few pics in my gallery. I think total cost for me with buying the k31 was around $950-1000.

my truck is a 2001 auto and I think my stock turbo would be too restrictive I can get a turbo off of a 94 parts truck I have But I think it is a w(*& (something) not a hx35 is this turbo any good the parts truck only has 60K on it.

Heykw your turbo in question is a wh1c the forrunner of the hx35 good turbo and would work on a set of home made towing twins. I'm not sure but I think the 01 and the 94 both use a 12cm exhaust housing and both are usable in twin in twin configuration up to around 500hp. Anthing more and you might want to think about a bigger secondary.

You could upgrade the wheel on that wh1c for 300 bucks and then you'd be a little better on the airflow for a while. Twins will be better but an upgraded wh1c will keep 400 HP cool and could be pushed to a hot 430-450 hp.

I think your stock turbo would be way out of the question, if it's a 01 auto then you must have a hy-35 with a 9cm housing. I would look at the turbo off of the 94, that would definitely work. If you can find a hx-35 from a 98-200 automatic or 01-02 manual then you would be better off.
