Turbo's 101---Need Help

I am in need of a new turbo. There are a lot of choices out there, and I dont want to make a bad decision. The only mod I plan on doing yet, is either a drag upgrade or a Smarty. I want all the info you can throw at me.

Modified HX35's?
HX40's?
S300's?
Phat Shaft turbo's?
HTB's?
b1's?
Edge?
What else am I forgetting?

Which spool the best? Prices? Thanks in advance for the info.

Modified HX35's? okay spool, not very good for towing with drag comp! 5th gear will get hot on fairly light daily driver romps!
HX40's? okay if thats all your doing but much more and you can kiss the shaft goodbye
S300's? ive never tried this one!
Phat Shaft turbo's? Mines on the way! Ill let you know when it gets here!
HTB's? Never tried this eaither
b1's? They say b1's are hard to get and somewhat out dated!
Edge? Great for towing but expensive as heck!

Im interested in seing what everyone else has to say! I just orderd the sps66 with mach 6's and i run a drag comp! Im curious to see what its manners are going to be!
These guys on here can get you in the right direction though!

Modified HX35's? You can have yours upgraded to a 35/40 fairly cheap
HX40's? Maybe a pdr40 Regular 40's aren't known for quick spool
S300's? Like the 40 better to get a modded one like the next three
Phat Shaft turbo's? 62/12 would rock
HTB's? same as ps
b1's? ksb-1 about the same as the above two but no wastegate =(
Edge? Their bb should be in the running

The ps, htt, bd, and b-1 are all competing models based on the s300

Does your 64/14 spool up quick? Would a 62/12 be enough for me, or should I go with something a little bigger? I would prefer a wastegated turbo so I can adjust the boost. I dont want to pop the headgasket. Is that something I would have to worry about with a non-wastegated turbo such as the ksb-1?

With a drag comp and Jammer 3's you are in the compromise zone. How you use and drive your truck will determine which way to go.
Play hard with WOT runs.... you will need the 14 cm2 turbine housing. AND it won't spool quickly, compared to stock! But you will get use to it and adjust how you drive.

Daily driver, towing and playing only occassionally... the 12 cm2 will work... with some EGT comcerns at WOT.

After market bigger single turbos are a compromise. You can't have fast spoolup and low EGt's. Easier to handle the adjustment with a manual tranny but still a compromise. Forget HX-40's and B-1's. Hybrid HX-35 won't be big enough, IMO. S300 is the core turbo for many others... not really a separate choice.
I would choose between HTT and PS model. Both seem to have the lattest and greatest technology for the best of both worlds... compromise-wise!

I don't do a lot of towing anymore. Mostly under 10k when I do. The truck is a daily driver, so I want the quickest spoolup as possible. The cops around here dont like to see clouds of smoke . I have been thinking a lot lately about getting a Smarty. That would help spoolup right? Since I dont do a lot of WOT runs over 100mph, I think I could get away with a 12cm housing. If I order a 62/12, and if the spoolup isnt fast enough for me, I will get a Smarty Thanks for the help guys.
