Re:Turbo Timer?

;D What I do is buy an extra key and carry it in my wallet. When I stop at the rest area after a long pull with my travel trailer I lock the truck with the engine running and use my wallet key to unluck and leave. Always a danger of someone breaking into the trk and stealing it tho.

Life is not without risks.

Re:Turbo Timer?

Hey Cumminsdude, thanks for the link. That will be helpfull on my installation.
And Shovelhead, yeah your right, that is a lot for a few minutes (I only paid $117) but when you got kids and wife that get impatient while we sit and wait for the mighty Cummins to cool off. : It should be well worth it! I'm real picky about shuting off the engine while the doors are open cause I dont want sagy hinges. This has gotten especialy long since the addition of an exhaust brake.

Hey, no problem. Did anyone figure out if that last one will work on a cummins diesel?

Re:Turbo Timer?

I got the Diesel Turbo Life Saver from Geno's Garage. Very happy with it. It cost a little more than others but you can't beat the ease of installation, just plug it in and you're ready to go. The additional security is nice also.

Russ

Re:Turbo Timer?

Just another link to throw in the mix.
When I e-mailed them some time ago it was around $245.00.
I did like some of the security featured in the returned e-mail. If some one was to get in your truck and put it in gear or hit the break the engine automaticaly shut down. Also they made it sound as if you only plugged the unit in and mounted the light/switch. It looks as if there are a few other features that are not explained.

Re:Turbo Timer?

F.Y.I There is a big difference between the Turbo Temp monitor and the Diesel turbo life saver. Both can cool the turbo down, but one will do this with no regard to the turbo temp. Is that what we are trying to do? cool the turbo to a known temp say 300 deg's. ?

Isspro and its called a Turbo temp monitor. Automatically shut down at 300 deg. or what ever you want to set it to with in the limit of the gauge.

The Diesel turbo life saver is a timer it does not know what temp of the turbo is when it shuts the truck off. It could be as hot as 500+ deg's when this happens.

I use the Isspro because it shuts the truck off at 300 deg. and that is what we are trying to, shut down at a known temp.? In my limited experience I have found out that some time when I turn the key off it will take as long as five minuets to shut off and others it will shut down right away. Depending on how I drive right before I shut the key off.

If I had a timer on the truck this would run the truck longer that it would have to or it would shut the truck off to hot.

Just thought I would put in my .02 Thanks OverFueled
