Won't work...housings attach differently!

I wouldn't worry about the lag of towing twins on the street. In general, twins spool slightly slower than the top turbo would spool as a single. Something like Rips twins with a stock HX-35 over an S400 should spool quick... you'll have to locate an HX-35 with the correct exhaust housing(pre-98.5) or an HX-35 and upgrade the exhaust housing. You could also use an HX-40 or S300 variant for the top turbo since you're not able to use your stock turbo. Best bet is to call Rip and discuss.... the BD's are also setup for good, clean power with EGT control for towing... definitely want to check them out.

and in general, twins will have a quieter exhaust note... kinda like having two mufflers in your exhaust.

You could also call Nathan Wright at MPI, and see what he can do with your stocker IIRC, he has some powerful CR's still running the HY35

Towing with twins is actually a lot of fun. I was racing in Redding, CA this weekend, and towing my travel trailer home (some pretty good passes, over 5000 feet), it's just amazing to watch the EGT's go down as I add power. For example at 62mph, in OD, going up a pretty good hill it will be making about 15psi of boost and around 1100 EGT. Pull out to pass some one, pull about 30psi (it was raining so more then 30psi was a little on the dangerous side), and the EGT's will drop about 100 degrees. It's so cool to watch, I could play with that all day long! Okay, I know... I need a life!

That's pretty slick, Paul!

I'd love to watch my boost gauge rise without a corresponding increase in EGT-- or even a decrease.

I think WE are the ones that need get a life, because it sounds like you're living the dream.

Thanks for the help guys, that's pretty much all I've been seeing and hearing about is the BD towing twins. That probably is gonna fit me well. I can somewhat do that now, my egt's are about 100 degrees lower with my wastegate turnbuckled. As my boost rises my egt's lower like you said about 100 or so degrees.

Here's another question. If I get twins and take out both silencer rings, you think it'll whine like crazy? anyone done this or only take one off? If I can't have a lot of exhaust noise I'd like a lot of whistle then.

Most turbos don't have silencer rings. The OEM units had them added to improve NVH.

I'm planning on going to twins. Well I actually have the turbos so I guess I'm closer than most. I just need the pipeing. I'm going to start out with a hx35/18.5 with a ht4c and see where that gets me. I'f I don't like it I will switch the stock turbo to a hx-40 or maybe just throw a 12com on the stocker. I don't really know until I get them built. I have PLENTY of fuel 500CC on the pump and 5x16 injectors plus laser cut dv's. has anyone ran a ht4c with a stocker?

You can definitely hear them coming down the road. The s400 didn't have a ring.

Alright that's awesome. Someone said having twins is like having two mufflers on the exhaust as far as sound goes....that true, it quiets down that much!?

I remember reading a couple peoples posts that talked about how twins with stacks were pretty quiet.

Same difference...compressor side is bigger, but still the same old tiny turbine side. Call PDR and get a Nasty 9
