I can verify that it does in fact lower egt's. I installed a Jake E-brake and my egt's would climb much faster than it did, before the brake install. I installed the 4" and a AFE Progard 7 and my egt's came right back to where they were before the brake.

As for the power, a little faster spooling was all I saw.

I cant help you with the 4" question, but as for the afe and bigger exhaust thing, i do have my experiances.

NO BOX Stock air box, and stock 3" exhaust got me 171 hp and 380 TQ, egts were up in the 1200* range.

Dynoed before i got the comp, AFE stage 2 and 5" exhaust, stock tranny, 179 hp and 401 TQ. Egt's would not break 1000*

Granted it isnt much of a gain, but still a gain none the less.

rebal,

There is a HP gain, 8-15 HP or so, but don't buy exhaust just for that little bit of HP get it for the EGT drop, up to 200 degrees basd on mods or stock etc. Plus it lets your turbo spool up faster and the truck doesn't have to "work" hard to accomplish the same work. Give us a call if you want we have all the MBRP systems in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless. The MBRP has 100% welded hangers so it installs just like the stock system, and they have a muffler packed with a ceramic blanket and stainless steel wool, lots of systems out there use a hollow core muffler and the sound and drone can be bad, not to mention it sets up a small restriction too.

Are you "blowing good $ out the pipe"? For 2nd gens it depends on what other mods have been done, what other mods are planned in the future, and how valuable your $s are.

My first mod was a 4" JRE system.
