i did mine and drilled all holes in the middle of the specs given in instructions and works great .
nice firm shifts .
take your time and read ins several times befor starting , allow a day for any problems and work slowely .
it may not take all day but just in case !
i welded in a 1/8 pipe nipple in pan an installed a allen head plug for a drain plug also for a much easier fluid drain whin i want next time !

Installing a drain is a great idea. My plan was to pump the fluid out through the filler tube...that sounds easier.

oldblues...did you test pressures before/after the conversion? Also, I've read that there's an adjustment screw for line pressure...did you have issues with that?

here is a couple more pages ya might need, DO the sealing rings so you can beef up the l/u, makes a big diff, you will need to get a new front pump gasket and oring tho. good chance to check frictions also.

my trany was working normal befor the tfod -diesel so i had no reason to test psi befor install .
yes there is a adjustment for line psi , it will be in the instructions .

ii use d the middle of the road adj for all my settings , no issues with anything yet . i like it just where it is at now ?

ps. i did not have trany out so i did not install the teflon seals on the pump !

I drilled my separator plate holes to the max and turned the pressure screw out 5 turns and the shifts were way to hard. So I bought a new separator plate, drilled the holes the minimum size recommended and backed out the pressure screw 3.75 turns. The shifts were still a little hard for my taste. Then there was something wrong with the tranny (ended up being a solenoid) and I couldn't seem to get the bands adjusted right so I ended up getting the whole thing rebuilt. :D I'm not sure exactly what the VB is set at now but if I were you, I'd say go 2 turns on the pressure screw and drill the separator plate holes to the min.

Is it absolutely necessary to put in the plastic seals before drilling the plate to put more pressure on the lock up clutch?

Or, does this mod already put more pressure on the TC?

I drilled mine a little bit bigger without installing the seals. I think the most I drilled it was about 1/2 what the instructions said. I talked to another guy who did it as well and it seemed to work ok but if I were to do it again, I probably wouldn't especially on a healthy transmission because I would guess it takes away from it's life. I'm no tranny expert though. The Transgo instructions clearly state not to drill it unless you install the seals so that should say something there.
