Nothing like that from Dodge. Personally, I think the Dodge tow mirrors are still better than the Ford and GM mirrors. The flip design was ingenious IMHO.

I like my tow mirrors except I wish there was an electric adjustment kit for the 2nd gen.

I agree, the electric adjustment would be pretty nice for the 2nd gens. I hate having to flip the mirrors and then get back in the truck to see where i need to adjust them. However, they are better than the tow mirrors those other companies that make diesel trucks put on there vehicles. I wonder if you could just jack the electric mirrors off a 3rd gen, and wire them up to the electric mirror control for a second gen, i imagine the wiring scheme would be fairly easy. Plus the joystick control for the 2nd gens looks cool anyways...

Some people on this site have made power tow mirrors for their 2nd gen trucks. It's not cheap, as it involves buying a set of 2nd gen mirrors AND a set of 3rd gen mirrors then putting them together. (Basically, you need the power part of the 3rd gen mirror and the mounting base part of the 2nd gen mirror.)

That is true, but you could probably just raid the local parts yard and get you a set of both for pretty cheap. The tuff part would prolly be taking the mirrors apart and then fusing them together again and splicing the electric part to the mirror control in the cab.

This man is 1000% correct! I can be done, it is expensive, and it would be worth it (if you're not newly wed or just out of college or in my case both!)

I wish the aftermarket would get after making a 2nd gen electric mirror replacement that looks just like the two mirrors except they are electric. Heck, I would think that Dodge would have made a conversion of some type. Sometimes us 2nd gen boys get the short end of the stick. But no complaints here.

So correct me if i am wrong, but what you are saying you would need to do the swap is electric mirrors from a 2nd gen and the new mirrors off a 3rd gen.

why would you need to buy ones for a 2nd gen if you already have them, or is that just for the guys who do not have power already?

The flip up tow mirrors for 2nd gen are not electric and the 3rd gens are.

you need the electric fold up mirrors from the 3rd to swap into the 2nd gen flip up tow mirrors/

Many people have done the 3rd gen power tow mirror mod. I will be doing it soon myself as someone tagged my passenger tow mirror in a parking lot and broke the plastic.

If you have factory small power mirrors....

You need a pair of 2nd gen non powered flip outs and a pair of 3rd gen powered flip outs.

You then swap the bases on the two sets, move the part that bolts to the truck over to the 3rd gen mirrors and visa versa, you then start playing with the wires to get the right ones matched up so the switch works correctly.

All said and done I will have about $500 in the setup. I originally had the small mirrors, last year I bought manual flip outs ($215ish? on Ebay). Someone hit my mirror on the passenger side and now will be ordering a set of 3rd gen versions from the same place ($279+ shipping) and will do the swap here soon as I can't stand to have broken stuff on my truck.

If you already have the manual flip up mirrors then all you need to buy is the 3rd gen. set. Where as my case I have the regular mirrors and would have to buy both sets to make them electric.

That's why you flip them up, and LEAVE them up! (see signature!)

I have done the conversion on my towing mirrors and I really like the results.

This link has some good pictures and instructions.

The following link has instructions only:

Good luck

I guess a cheaper alternative would be to use a manual one on the driver side and just build a power one for the passenger side. We could probably reach out the window and adjust the driver mirror manually if we really, really had to.
