Torque converter
Hey all, Im thinking about replacing my torque converter, but want to replace it with a better than stock unit. I also tow quite a bit (usually around 6-10,000 pounds) From what Ive read it seems that the lower the stall speed the better for the cummins engine.?! If anyone could help out it would be great I would really appreciate any input. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that another reason for replacing the converter is the in traffic drivability seems to really be a pain ie. all engine noise no go....

Hey maybe I can help some:
My stock auto exploded. To make a really long story short.
I didn't have much money to work with, but I wanted to get it fixed and I ended up getting a stock rebuild with a Goerend single disk low-stall TC and high pressure VB. A decent TC and VB should go hand in hand. A single disk TC should be just fine for your needs, depending on how much HP you plan on making. Phil told me mine would hold about 350-400HP which is more than enough (for now anyway
).I got all the work done buy a guy who goes by mcmopar here on DTR, send him a PM and he can probably help you out.
Driving the 3500 with this transmission in it compared to the stock transmission is an unbelievable difference. The revs don't go way up, I can idle along just fine w/o using the gas to get it moving, and when it shifts you KNOW that it is in gear. The 3500 has 3.55 gears, but it will still take off faster than my 2500 with 4.10s that has a stock auto.
Hope that can get you started, I'm sure others will chime in if they haven't already lol.

I'm talking about Phil who goes by mcmopar here on the forums, he lives here in NC and gets his tranny stuff from Dave Goerend. I think he runs his own little performance business called RPM enterprieses.
