Timming Question

I have a question, I know someone out there has the answer. My question is, I general if you have after market injectors such as 370's or DDP's. I know egt will rise but if you ajust timming from stock to around 15.5 or 16 would that help lower egt? So if anyone can answer this nad give me some more info that would be great.

Thanks,
Adam

it will lower it some but you have to remember that each injector has a certain timing that they respond to better. not sure what 370's you're refering to but the marine 370's wouldnt be the way and the max timing on them would be 15 to 16 any more than that no good. if you're gonna to injectors get some clean ones that are EDM'd and you can go a little more on the timing with the injectors that have a good spray.

yeah, , it will be better to bump the timing if you get different injectors stock timing is good for stock injectors but stock timing on bigger injectors dont do as good. the average timing is 15.5 to 16 and you can run that on any injector for a mild truck.

I tow anywhere from 4K-12K up anything from 4% to 6% grades. As far as turbo upgrades go I just have the 16cm housing on and I really do like it. I would like a bigger turbo but that wouldnt happen for some time.

i would go with the DDP 2's 75 hp injectors and should work good with your current air. also just noticed that you have a zero full forward you'll need to pull that back to half way. how are your egts now.

If I REALY work it hard I can reach 1200 empty if I'm in 5th gear and lay on the throttel that was before the 16cm. Now towing up the passes around hear I will only hit 1200 if I lug in down in 5th. If I down shift to 4th the EGT will stay around 900-1100 thats at 65-70mph towing 12K up mountain passes.
Yeah I know I will have to back my plate down a bit if I do get injectors.

man those are some good numbers with the 181's and 215's. i wish i had those numbers when i had that config. if thats all you're seeing then you shouldnt have any prob with the bigger injectors and keep the plate slid some.

I think I will probley end up going with the DDP 2's when I do get injectors. I know I will have to adjust the fuel plate when that time comes. Thanks for all the info though
