Tightening stock Gov springs????????

I have read that some guys just tighten stock springs? do you just adjust the low Idle RPM after the adjustment of the springs?

or are you shiming everything but the idle springs?

It is possible to tighten the OEM stock governor springs from one to three clicks, then have to adjust the idle to get it back where it belongs. However, for the paltry sum of around $30 or so you can pick up TST's governor spring kit with a complete set of instructions, and get even better performance through the entire range. Just tightening the OEM springs can raise the pump defueling profile, but is not recommended for best performance.

Its about $125 for the 3k governor springs. Go ahead and play around with tightening them. You wont hurt anything anyway. I think you could get some more out of it pretty easily by tightening them.

The AFC spring kit is about $30, the GSk is about $120. There is a difference.

My understanding is simple

You might be able to just free rev or rev the engine higher when doing so, But i do not see how tightening the governer springs is going to affect the fueling curve at all. We replace governer springs to rev the engine higher but it also has the effect of slowing down the governer arm before defueling occurs, why would stock springs slow that down by merely tightening them? Your truck will probably only still fuel to what the stockers allow, it will just free rev higher, IMHO...

If you tighten the springs, u will have to adjust the idle as well...

we did tighten our stock (215 pump) springs about 1 or 2 clicks, and it would rev up to 4000 rpm on empty, but we didnt find out when pulling! now we have 4k gksk in, we had them there anyway!

try it out Man, you will be happy, specially if you have an older year truck, like a 94, 95 or so, !!
later adjust your ideling with a 10mm.
