Talking Thank you Bob wagner

A big hello to all ..Well i just rolled in today from my Baja trip. and wanted to let every one know how the catcher and mach 1.6s did on there first big test.
WOW I went down with 4 other friends and all were impressed . one was a 2004 6.0 a 1999 7.3 chipped a 1998 6.5 and a chevy 350 pulling a light trailer. and my dodge ran like a champ the first sign things looked good was at the pump.I was pulling the heavyest load then the 6.0 was next then the 7.3 -6.5 and last was the 350.I never saw less then 10 and sometimes hit 12 mpg the 6.0 was at 8 the 7.3 was at 9 to 10 the 6.5 was a 8 and the 350 was at 4-5. the whole time i was waiting for the grade ahead .when we got to the hills 6% + I set the cruise at 62 and just watched them fall way back the 6.0 was almost able to to stay up and on the long grades i never lost sight of him but as for the others ...GONE... we all stayed close and fueled or stopped for the chevy to gas up.
the catcher and 1.6s make the dodge a real safe pulling rig, i only hit 1250 egt one time just to see if i still could get more out of it and just pushing down on the peddle you could feel it wanted to keep going and i think if i kept it down it would run the egts up, but at 55-60 mph 1100 -1150 was all i saw . this truck runs awesome now and the mods sure put a smile on me .the only neg. thing with the truck was the boarder crossing and the 6spd.
that is where an auto is needed.

Nice report. Interesting mileage comparisons on the two Fords!
Surprised the 7.3 could not keep up on the 6%grade.
What was the problem at the Border... just stop & go traffic, or something else?

I'll bet the 7.3L had 3.73 gears and an Auto...if it had 4.10's, OR a 6 shooter, he wouldv'e kept up better than the 6.0No! The 7.3L needed to be @ 2K RPM to have any power pulling hills A buddy had one

RJ ,the problem at the boarder was the stop and go every 6" its a clutch killer with 22K gvwr the streets were wet so i dropped in to low range to help save my new SBC.

Chris ... all the rigs were autos but im not sure what gears in the rears mine are 3.54 what i didnt expect was how good the chevy 6.5TD pulled,it never dropped real far behind the 7.3 ??? maybe 2wd had something to do with that?
