Test Drive/Trip Report
Just got back from a weekend trip with the new trans.
Loaded, truck weighed 17,600 gross. I have all the mods below in the signature. Load was a camper (tall model, for extra wind drag ) and a Jeep Cherokee on trailer.
Exhaust temps were easily controllable, with a steady 900 degrees on flat ground and a peak of 1300 if I floored it all the way up a hill. I was travelling at 55mph in OD for the whole trip.
I did have one hiccup on a grade...I could not leave the truck in OD. Plenty of power, but the water temp starting rising due to low Fan RPM. Shift down to Drive and maintaining the same speed was an easy solution.
Trans Temps at the line out were a constant 140 degrees on the highway. With peaks in the 180 range while in 4x4 driving in a sandy wash at 5-10 mph.
Boost was about 10 PSI for level ground at 55mph. Peak at 40 on the steepest of hills and only if I wanted it to Most hills were 25-30 PSI in OD or about 20 psi in drive.
Fuel mileage was as expected, Setting the cruise at 55mph yielded 14.5 mpg (GPS corrected for tires).
Mid throttle shifts into OD were harsher than expected, so I came up to speed in Drive, then backed off throttle before allowing it to shift.
All in all, very happy with the whole setup.
