Super B Special, 200's, With an Automatic??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok guys im asking this for a friend and i am curious as well. Here is what we have going. Its a 01, DTT Auto, SO Pump, Comp-Smarty Stack, Air Dog 150, Whats ur opinion of doing a 200-220 injector with the super b special on an auto or will there be alot of lag?? Doesnt tow. Just a daily driver-play truck. His goal is 550 will it be close? If not what are other opions without doing compounds?

Should be around 550 hp!
I would not run a SuperB Special on an automatic with big injectors. He won't like driving it on the road! Way to laggy.
Several have done it but a lot of work to control smoke, IMO.
A lot depends on where you live (you don't say). I'm talking about Sun Belt with 6 months of 90*+ everyday. Farther north might work better, but I wouldn't do it.

A 64/71/13 would be a better option... or Silver Bullet 62/74/14.

That is kind of what i thought but wasnt sure, i dont know the vp trucks very well, could he get away with running some sort of 62 charger with 200's i know it would be hot but he doesnt tow with it. Like a II Silver 62 or the 62/71/14 from HTT and still make the 550 or close to that?

Sure ...on the dyno where only need 5-6 sec of a pegged Pyro? Hot on the road though....I would expect.
The 62/71/14 has possibilities. I haven'payed close enough attention to say, since got twins.
The silver bullet 62 says up to 650 hp....which means really 550 on the street, IMO. What's HTT rate theirs at?

I'll put my input in with regards to this turbo and big injectors. I ran Mach 6 and the SB special, putting down 575 on fuel and 680 with nitrous. I towed with the setup and daily drove with it.

Lag with a charger like this in an auto is pretty dependent on converter stall. If you have a really tight stator it will be more difficult to keep smoke free on the bottom. A lighter stall will make the combo more drivable for those ultra sensitive about smoke.

I run a triple disk now but back when I run the above mentioned combo I had a DTT 89% single. For me I never got excited about lag because I don't drive my truck like a gasser. I roll into the pedal and don't just hammer the pedal to firewall expecting instant boost.

I've towed upwards of 10,000 lbs all over the east coast and never had a problem but yet again it isn't the ideal towing charger. If you increase your fueling and you have to upgrade to a single because twins are not an option it's one of the better choices on the market.

Like Rowland mentioned the 62/71/ is a good charger as well and a lot of guys use it. I don't recommend spending extra money on a 13 housing but that just my opinion.

ok, i think i am following you, So will the triple disk be much tighter than a single disk causing more drag down low? Im sorry i do not know much about autos and the truck was bought with the tranny in it, It currently Has a billett single TQ converter in it. with what seems like very normal stall. Any more info is greatly appreciated!

The stator design pretty much dictates the stall, doesn't matter if it's a single or triple.

Im pretty much running the same set up. Its street friendly. My injectors are a little bigger though. Not too bad on spool up. Just put mine on the rollers of Dunbar's.
