super B questions

all right I have the chance to get a used super b with about 10k on it for 600 to 700. I was wondering what problems these have, if a used turbo is a good idea or not, and what all I would need to put it on (ex. what kind of a down pipe would I need). or should I just save some money for the moment and put on a 14 cm housing?

I can't tell you what the turbo is worth used, but you can get one brand new from "turbo supply" for about $800.

They are a good tough turbo, the super B is what BD named the s300g and is what alot of custom turbos are built off of (phatshaft, HTT, and I believe B1)

If you call turbo supply ask for bruce and the part # for the s300g is 174430. You will also need a HX40 down pipe and clamp and atleast 4inch exhaust

Hope this helps....Josh

With our Super B turbo it is a bolt on kit. It comes with the downpipe, clamps and the adjustable wastegate. The wastegate is pre-set for 40psi. We also clock the housings so they bolt right on. Our kit is the only aftermarket kit that has a factory 1 year Borg Warner warranty. We were involved in the development of this particular turbo and wheel setup with BW. We actually are a BW engineering facility. All of these things add value to the turbo.

Pat,
Aren't earlier Super B's a different set up than what you have now? Have always believed this because the first one I ever saw was bgt used... and it was very slow to spool up... not like mine. I was told it did not have twin exhaust (wastegate) ports. Was on the truck, so I did not see for myself.

IMO, the Switzer-Borg Warner S300 turbo (Super B) is much newer technology that the Holset. Superior performance and air moving ability! I would sell any Holset I have and change brands!

Super B takes a 4", HX-40 Downpipe.
