Subwoofer help......

Bein' that I'm fairly stereo stupid.....Just put in a new head unit (Alpine 9351), amp (RF 4004) and speakers (CDT EF-61 front, CL6x rear).

Leaning toward a Bazooka 8" amplified bass tube, just because I don't want to buy and install another amp.

Should I get the 100 watt or the 200 watt? I don't want to overpower the mids and tweeters with bass. Not looking to set car alarms off going down the road (got the 4" exhaust for that), just want something that'll sound clean at 75 mph with the widows down, tires hummin' and turbo whistling.

Any suggestions?

Conrad

200 watt. You can never have too much power. Really, they're typically tunable so that you can get the bass adjusted to fit in well with the other speakers--smooth crossover point, not too loud, etc. What the 200 watt unit will do is provide some additional headroom. I'm running a single 10" Polk EX sub in a ported wedge truckbox behind the driver's seat with a Hifonics amp bridged to 150w mono. It's not too much, especially with the windows down.

PLEASE NO!!!!!!!!!

The Bazooka sounds like someone hitting a trashcan bottom with a stick

Seriously, You put in quality components and should have a great sound. My advice...Buy another amp and put a quality sub in. You won't regret it. The Bazooka really gets nerving after awhile. It's just the stupid thud sound it makes that kills me.

Im going to go for a 10" in each rear quad cab door with a alpine 200x2 RMS amp... thats a nice clean mixture... if its too loud, you can always turn it down.. but if its not enough.. you cant turn it up!

putting in another amp and a sub isnt any worse, easier actually, than the headunit and components.

you can get ALOT for your money if you give some of the smaller, non-mainstream brands a try (ascendant audio, RE, adire, CDT)

Thanks for the suggestions guys.....found a guy that on e-Bay that was highly recommended, he custom builds a center seat replacement similar to the JL Stealth box. Going with a CDT CL 1015 Sub and a RF P2002 to drive it....

Ditto! With a 12" Kicker Comp and MTX 340 to drive it. Sounds just fine!

Now where is the sub? is there an amp mount too? and does it retain the console? That is way cool.
