Strong wheel-to-wheel nerf bars

OK, this is the second time I'm heading to the body shop because someone too otherwise occupied to look before changing lanes sideswiped me. Can anyone recommend good, very solid and strong wheel-to-wheel nerf bars?

When I got rear-ended and drove away without a scratch (ok, maybe I lost some paint on the trailer hitch) and the econobox that hit me was _messed_ up, I was perversely satisfied. I want that same feeling after my next side-to-side encounter with a 325i driving, non-blinker using, cell phone talking <politically incorrect stereotype deleted>.

Tough Country sells some pipe running boards. Basically a pipe nerf bar with diamond plate on top to make the running board.

I'm looking at making my own, as they want almost a grand for theirs.

Smile Nerf bars

I have a set that I custom built for a ford ...thats before I came to the Dodge side ... The veiw's much better here ...LOL
I had the same luck with people running into my truck ...I did the full leight on my old ...They were great ...Anyone who ran into my truck had this U shape down the side of there car .
If your looking for some idea's look at the misc section on this site ...they were very strong .
If your not intrested in re-inventing the wheel ...as I did ...LOL , Texas Outfitters builds some awsome nerf bars .. they can take a good hit ... but there not cheap ... close to 2 grand with delivery .

My Westins mount to the frame, and will keep another vehicle out of the body work. My ride height is just enough to destroy the side of an errant BMW. Even if the nerf's are damaged from the impact, it will keep the "space invader" off the body work, insurance pays, so whom cares?
